| ![]() It all sounds normal. The first thing Ellie showed interest in eating was my bowl of apple sauce. ![]() All spays should come home with pain meds.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | ![]() I thought she should have pain meds too, but I asked and they said they had given her a pain killer injection so she should be fine but to call back if she seems distressed. So will be keeping a close eye on her.

| ![]() Don't wait until she is having pain!!! Then, it is harder to control. ![]() My vet always sends pain meds home after spays.

| ![]() You are the owner! Just tell them you want meds for her! That is what I would do...OR just tell them she is crying. Whatever it takes...but I would not leave a dog without pain meds after surgery.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Okay thanks, I will just say she is crying and get them tomorrow. Thanks for this, I have never been through this before so all I know is what the vet tells me, thanks for giving me the heads up.

| ![]() She had the equivalent of a hysterectomy. Whether she shows pain or not, she needs them. And an added bonus of meds can be the reduction of inflammation and/or light sedation. Dogs don't always show pain. Most hide it when possible. And studies show that less pain = faster healing. He does not have to give them to her. That's his call. It's your job as an owner to bug until he does. And if he gives you a hard time, then new vet time...

| ![]() Glad to hear she is home and all went well! Uni did not get sent home with pain meds, but she did get a pain med shot before she left. She was fine by the night, back to her normal self.
