Thank you for your input. I was thinking that the med would work and that it would work ok for just Mina in my car too. We will be taking these two on vacation and it is going to be a looooong trip. Amigo is not Mina's biggest fan,he has just decide that she is ok. He doesn't warm up to anyone very fast, but once he decides that he like you,he is your friend forever.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I recently bought the snoozer car seat and I ABSOLUTLEY Love it!!!!!!!!! I have the Small lookout. I can't say enough how wonderful it is. Taycie used to be so anxious in the car. Whine, pant, it was awful. I was using her crate in the car, and I would have to cover it with a blanket to calm her down. Otherwise it was a total nightmare. Especially when we would get going on the freeway.. she would completly fall apart. I actually found one that was gently used and only paid 35! I washed the cover and it is perfect! The best part about it was.... The minute I put her in it she snuggled up and fell asleep. I tested it, driving on the freeway later that night. She hardly made a peep. Now, a few weeks after I bought it she LOVES going for car rides. I buckle her in and she instantly snuggles in I will never go with out one! I love that she is safe and and also feeling secure! Win Win for us! And it is soooooooo incredibly cozy and soft!

| WARNING: Don't know if this applies to any of you here... I took ZoE for a 6 month checkup today before scheduling her spay. There was a lady with the cutest little pomeranian puppy there for its first checkup. She said her previous pom died in a car crash. I didn't want to make her feel responsible by inquiring if the dog was restrained...when she volunteered that it died from internal injuries she sustained from the airbags deploying in the crash while riding in a console mounted car seat in her SUV . Has anyone else heard of this happening? Now it has me wondering if there is any safety/crash-test standards for these seats.

| Don't forget that even if restrained, never put them it the front because of airbags. Our little guy always rides in the back seat, even though he protests loudly. Just think about the rules for kids and adults under a certain weight and then think about how much your dogs weigh. Last edited by Grendel; 06-17-2011 at 07:04 PM. |

I think, of course, there is always a risk. Just like people can be buckled in and still die in a crash, I am sure the same risks are involved for a dog. But I am sure their chances are higher if they are strapped in and won't be loose flying through a windshield or anything.

| I know that in our pickup truck the passanger airbag can be turned off from the dash. I found out today that alot of car owner manuals tells you how to turn the passanger airbag off,so a small child can ride in the front. I will be doing some reading this weekend. As for pet carseats being crash tested, they would have to be federally regulated to require a crash testing. They also would be constructed with a hard shell with padding over that. |

| My Aveo has a passenger airbag detection sensor. I think if the weight in the seat is 80+ lbs it turns the airbag on. It's still scary though, I'm a nervous wreck when we drive with him. Not because of my or my husband's driving, but beacause of the other people. There is a magnet at a store that I saw that said "YORKIE ON BOARD. NO TAILGATING!" Grandted it may not help.

I have ruled out car seat and have found a carharness that is crash tested. Mina will be getting a harness. If the airbag blows with the passanger seat in my stang all of the way back the airbag should go over her. The harness would afford me the ability to put her in the front seat, back seat and still have Amigo with her. Neither of our vehicles have side airbags.

| Well, Tatum rides in a console car seat in my Tahoe and I really never considered the airbag issue since she's in the middle and the airbags are in front of each bucket seat. That is a valid concern though. I didn't realize it could affect the center area of the front seats. On another note, I have a Tahoe now but in the next couple months will be getting a new Camaro. I'm wondering if the console carseat I have will fit in that. Does anyone have a Camaro? They have side airbags and airbag curtains though. Not sure what the safety issue would be with that.

| Roxie has a carseat in my car and a seat belt restraint in DBF's car. She actually prefers DBF's car to mine. She took to the seat belt restraint much quicker (and quieter) than she did to the carseat, but now she is ok with both. When we got her she was so accustomed to riding on her previous owner's lap in the car, and it was a very hard habit to break. She barked, she panted, she wined, and she tried to escape the carseat. She wanted to be up front with us, but she is now in the back seat. This particular carseat is the second one I bought, and it's really not great quality. I use it with the legs folded under because they aren't very sturdy.
