| What a Morning! I would swear today was a Monday if i did not know better! This is how my day has gone. First, at 6 am I wake up to my outside dogs going crazy. I have two Beagles and one Great Pyrenees. They have a raccoon trapped in my pond. They will not let him (or her) get out. My one Beagle would kill it for sure so I had to wake my son up to help me. We held the dogs down and the raccoon ran away. Thank goodness. Then, Miss Rosie decides she will pull a nice little event on me. I always let Rosie go outside on her own. Only once did she run up toward the cows on the land next to us. So, having her run freely has never been an issue. Today I take her out and all of a sudden she puts on her terrier stance! We do not have neighbors next to us. Only pasture and woods. The property is surrounded with barbwire fence. There is a strip of clear land then the rest is grown up woods. Very dense woods. And I know there are lots of critters that live there! Anyway, Rosie has spotted a squirrel in the tree. At this point, the squirrel decides to take off. And so does Rosie! She goes through the barbwire fence and takes off to the woods. I am begging her to come back, shaking, and crying because she was totally ignoring me! To make a long story short, I had to climb the barbwire fence and go through the woods to get her. I was not a happy camper! But so glad my baby is ok! She scared me to death. So, I guess now I am going to look for a harness to use just for taking her outside. I have some cute dressy harnesses that I have bought here. However, I am thinking about just a plain one for going potty. Any suggestions? Sorry my rant is so long. I was a terrified mommy!

| I agree, what a morning! I'm glad all turned out well and the raccoon escaped. It's a blessing that one of your beagles didn't go in after the 'coon. They have a nasty reputation for drowning dogs. I can tell you from having lived with one for almost a year that 'coons can be VERY aggressive and MEAN! i loved my little Annie, and even though we raised her inside our house she was a wild animal and never let me forget it. Sounds like little Miss Rosie's hunting insticts came roaring out. It is scary when they decide to go after dinner. |

My husband said the same thing. He was brush hogging and of course no where around. Lol. He said the coon would have ended up being the winner. My Beagle jumped right into the pond and starting swimming after it. I felt sorry for the coon but didn't want anything to happen to my dog. This Beagle is the one I had to bottle feed so he is a little special to me. Thank goodness it got away. I am not liking these hunting instincts from Rosie. She just got a bath (because she had all kind of woods goodies in her hair) and she is curled up sleeping in my lap. Totally clueless she almost gave me a heart attack!

YT Addict | i use the dressy harness to take abby out places but i also have a normal harness but she doesnt like the feel to it and tries to take it off. i would use the dressy one as long as it is ok for her to get it dirty or if you have another one. |

| Oh no! Her hunting instincts really came out huh? I do remember the cow story, I think you posted a picture of little miss cow chaser lounging on a zebra bed afterwards! Anywho, I know alot of people recommend the buddy belt, however I got Gizmo's from a local pet shop up north. They were a little less expensive but still step-in and choke free. Really easy to put on him too (plus it's rainbow color! ) Here's the website: Raining Cats and Dogs - Cat and Dog Gifts and Gear

| I'm glad you & Rosie are OK now, aside from being a little shaken, I'm sure. Once they go into "terrier" mode I swear they have tunnel vision & care about nothing but the "prize". That worries me sometimes! I'm glad you were able to get her back virtually unharmed & I'm also glad your dogs didn't have the chance to tango with the raccoon this morning. Hope your day has gotten better since.

| Mom picked up a harness from Petco. However, I am not sure it is ok to use for a Yorkie. It seems like it still is around her neck area. Can you tell me if I need to take this back? PETCO Comfort Control Pink Dog Harness at PETCO Just not sure if I should use it.

| Princess has the almost exact one, if not the exact, & it's the type I've used for most of her life. She's a puller & has never gagged, etc. IMO, I think it's a nice harness. I like that it's wider too, so it doesn't just put pressure in one area if they are pulling.

| It looks alot like a Puppia harness. I have a bunch of Puppias in different colors and really like them because ZoE can't get out of it like she can the step-in type.
