| Bringing Maddie home in 3 1/2 hours!!! Any body have any last minute advice! I am bring her home soon and am starting to get nervous...I have everything that I need for her but I guess my biggeset concern is that I am going to be training her to potty outside.. It is like in the 40's here, is it to cold for that if I put a sweater on her and don't stay out there long? |

| So excited for you!!!! She should be fine with a sweater outside if it's not for very long. How old is she??? Don't know what your expectations are on potty training but it takes lots of time and patience Lots of info on here about it too!!! I have heard that dogs, especially smaller breeds, cannot hold or have full control of their bladder until they are at least six months old...Please post pics when you get her!!!! Can't wait to see!!

| Well I have been having great success with Tucker and he is 4 months.. He rarely has accidents but I started by taking him out every 30 minutes or so and I guess that is where I am concerned.. Is taking her out in the cold every 30 minutes like I have done with Tucker going to be ok for her... She is way to young to be coming home, but in case you haven't read any of my other posts about her then here goes... She is only six weeks. The breeder is in her late 80's and has let her daughter start to take over and the daughter wants them sold ASAP so I have two options.. Either I can take her and use what experience that I have with Tucker and make sure she is protected and gets the rest of her shots and has plenty of Nutrical, or I can let them keep her for breeding and she will live the rest of her life in a kennel.. Not happening.. The daughter told me that if her mom had not already sold her to me then she would keep her for breeding.. Now I will say that the kennel is clean and the dogs are very clean and well cared for medicaly and physically, but the adults do not have any human socialization and I will not let that happen to my Maddie.. I got Tucker at 8wks and he has been fine so I feel comfortable about taking her on.. I guess the daughter is what you call a back yard breeder although she takes great medical care of them.. The daughter and her husband and their 24 yr old daughter and her 3kids all moved in with the 80yr old mother because her health is not great and her husband passed away and she has had a hard time dealing.. The poor old woman likes to keep the puppies until 10-12 weeks but now she has no say so.. They have already placed an ad in the paper so I hope that the other ones are bought by nice people...Please do not down me for taking her on and not finding another breeder... |

| Hi Amanda I have been keeping up with your posts and I'm excited for you! I had a hard time potty training Porscha in the winter when I got her. But sometimes they go out there and it's so cold they want to go potty very fast, wee wee pads might be something to have just incase she doesn't get it from tucker to go outside! Have fun with your new baby today!! |

| The only thing I can think of is what are you going to do when it snows, which could be any day now? I put pads in my attached garage for inclement weather and night time. It can be too cold even for a bigger yorkie later on. That's about all I can think of. I'm so excited for you and Maddie. I know you'll be busy, but won't it be fun?
