| Again- there is no such thing as peeing out of spite- have you considered hiring a trainer to come to your home to work on these issues, rather then consider rehoming?

I have done everything!! Trainer, breeder recommendations, veterinary work-ups, food changes, routine changes, diapers, etc. I have done it ALL. I would not re-home her, ever. That's the point. I have done everything and she hasn't changed and I haven't given up on her. She is 18 months old now and it is just who she is. I will say that the breeder wants to take her to some specialist (on her own dime) because we just cannot figure her out. I'll update on that when it happens. She will ring the bell to go out, go out and do her business, come in and immediately look at me and pee a little spot...like a dime or up to a quarter size. This is just one example of when she will do it. I do believe that dogs can and do pee for attention. If you want to call it "spite" that is fine too. I understand that dogs don't have the thought process, but they do understand how to get attention...good or bad they don't know the difference, it's just attention. I may be new to Yorkies but I am no stranger to dogs and successful ownership. Thank you for your post.

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | LOL. Thanks for the laugh. I am truly envious of all who do not share this issue.

| From your description, that sounds just like a UTI.

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | Thank you for your reply. I have taken her to the vet twice in 15 months for medical work-ups on the possibility of it being a medical issue. Each time there were no "findings" and they issued antibiotics and called it a UTI. The antibiotics did not make the "symptoms" better. My question is, "Is it possible to have a UTI for 15 1/2 months straight?" Being treated 2x because they didn't find anything else. Last time the vet said to give him a call after 10 days on the antibiotics if there was a change. Ha Ha, no change. We checked her kidney and bladder for stones too. Nothing. ugh.

| This might sound like a simplistic idea - but could she be marking? I have heard girls can mark.

| Some UTIs are hard to get rid of, especially if bladder stones are present. You said your vet ruled that out. Did he take an X-ray of her abdomen to check for crystals and stones? Was the UTI diagnosed by you bringing a urine sample (early morning, mid-stream catch)? The antibiotic prescribed has to do with what "bugs" were found present in her urine. If no urine sample was given, it's possible the wrong antibiotic was prescribed. Hopefully these two tests were preformed. There are also endocrinological diseases such as hypothyroidism, Cushings disease, Addison's disease or even Diabetes that also have symptoms similar to a UTI. For this reason, a blood test would also help sort out exactly what has been happening to your girl. Was screening done for all these things? Sounds like you've been very proactive. It must be very frustrating for you!

I will definitely ask the vet again about each of the endocrinological diseases you mentioned. And yes, the stress is tremendous. I feel like it isn't fair for her or me as she doesn't get free reign of the house and she can't follow me around like I would like her to. Maybe we will get a break some day.

And it is so funny you mention that. I did not choose a male as I did not want a "marker"...well what do you know. LOL
