The antibiotic prescribed has to do with what "bugs" were found present in her urine. If no urine sample was given, it's possible the wrong antibiotic was prescribed. Hopefully these two tests were preformed. There are also endocrinological diseases such as hypothyroidism, Cushings disease, Addison's disease or even Diabetes that also have symptoms similar to a UTI. For this reason, a blood test would also help sort out exactly what has been happening to your girl. Was screening done for all these things? Sounds like you've been very proactive. It must be very frustrating for you! |
Thank you so much Kim. The correct urine sample was given. They even tried twice to get a sterile sample direct from the bladder. But they said her bladder is too small. I'm not sure if each of those screenings have been done but blood tests each time. Yes to the x-ray as well. No stones present. A relief but also frustrating because we have nothing to "cure". : )
I will definitely ask the vet again about each of the endocrinological diseases you mentioned.
And yes, the stress is tremendous. I feel like it isn't fair for her or me as she doesn't get free reign of the house and she can't follow me around like I would like her to. Maybe we will get a break some day.
