I can't imagine having strictly an indoor dog. Perhaps in the rare case that a pup is extremely immunocompromised, etc. and can't go out, that would be fine. Dogs are almost entirely wolves. They need to go out. It isn't necessary for their physical health as long as they can be exercised inside, but IMO it is important for their psychological well being. My girl is allowed to be outside, walk in the grass, etc. She is not allowed to go near dead animals or eat bugs.

I agree that, by and large, yorkies should allowed to play/walk outside like all other dogs unless there is a health reason.

They are living creatures and all of us need sunshine and fresh air from time to time.

Lucy is mainly an indoor dog - even though Ringo prefers to be out. However, she loves to lay in the sunshine; loves to chase her toys in the grass; loves to go for walks and explore new trails.

Troy is an indoor pupper, but he is out-door trained. He actually likes outdoors. Loves the smells and the sights. He goes places with us and will get in his bag on his own if needed. But ultimately he'll prefer to be walking and strutting.

Andy has a pee pad in the house if needs to use it. But he goes outside throughout the day with me .We also go on two walks a day. He experiances things that yes he is my baby but he's also a dog and needs to experiance thing that all dogs do.He loves the walks sniffing things barking at a bird or a squirrel catching a ball. running and playing. Looking up to watch a plane or a bird fly over. Smell a flower. I find when they are allowed to do thngs outside with you they learn to use their nose better than just sight and sound.

I believe it has helped him to be a well adjusted yorkie. Oh he also loves to go shopping.
