I can't imagine having strictly an indoor dog. Perhaps in the rare case that a pup is extremely immunocompromised, etc. and can't go out, that would be fine. Dogs are almost entirely wolves. They need to go out. It isn't necessary for their physical health as long as they can be exercised inside, but IMO it is important for their psychological well being. My girl is allowed to be outside, walk in the grass, etc. She is not allowed to go near dead animals or eat bugs. |
I agree that, by and large, yorkies should allowed to play/walk outside like all other dogs unless there is a health reason.
They are living creatures and all of us need sunshine and fresh air from time to time.
Lucy is mainly an indoor dog - even though Ringo prefers to be out. However, she loves to lay in the sunshine; loves to chase her toys in the grass; loves to go for walks and explore new trails.
