| ANOTHER dog shot in HIS yard, in my own town!!! Here's the story, it's short something I was actually able to read so not too graphic. Dog fatally shot in Kalamazoo | kalamazoo, newschannel, shot - WWMT NEWSCHANNEL 3 This just reallllly pi$$es me off...the dog was on his property & of course he would want to protect his family from big, dark men!! ***** Unrelated to this, a couple weeks ago the P.D. here shot a mentally unstable man who had a knife with a shotgun!!! Of course the poor guy died, I just hope they are not turning into some big corrupt P.D.

| How sad. If a dog cannot be on his own property, and be safe from a police officer shooting...where can he be? I know 3 of my dogs would charge someone if they were in their yard. If someone shot my dogs...there'd be HELL TO PAY!!!

| Not a very complete article -- doesn't say anything about the dog at all, except that it was apparent that it was going to attack. I guess it really doesn't matter what kind of dog or how big, still the police entered a property without notifying the owners and then shot a dog coming out to alert and protect. I understand they were pursuing a suspect but it still seems like an unnecessary death to me. I can't imagine how I would feel! When my pups hear something outside, they always charge out like they are going to take someone's head off but -- if actually faced with a person, they will stop short of actually making contact. They will bark and act ferocious but they do not bite. If someone (even a police officer) shot them in our own yard, I would be horrified and angry beyond words.

| Omgosh! If that were my dog, there would be some people in BIG trouble! Of course a dog is going to protect their property. RIP poor doggie!

| You better believe it. The police think they can do anything just because they carry a gun. The people should have been warned that they were there and maybe they could have gotten the dog into the house. Too bad the dog didn't get the chance to rip him in shreads before it was shot by this jerk. |

| Nearly the same exact thing happened here just a couple weeks ago. Here's the story. Owner upset after police shot his dog - Crime & Courts - SunHerald.com

that is sooo insane, i CANNOT imagine! and if they felt they really feared for their lives don't they all carry tazers & pepper spray?!? they do here, and if they had to shoot a dog, which would never be justified by me, why would they do it 6 freaking times???? just like the guy that got shot here, in the chest with a shot gun to disarm him! why not shoot the man and the dog in the leg or something (if 100% necessary)?

| At what time of day (or night) did the shooting occur? Not trying to raise any tempers here, it's just that if it was at night, shouldn't the dog be inside with their owners? I personally do not agree with leaving dogs outside (even in your backyard) unsupervised. Either way, that is just my opinion.

Of course I want criminals apprehended, but they need to let people know they will be on their property or something. Why wouldn't they want to know if there's a danger on the property before they enter it anyways? I'm not in law enforcement but I think some revisions are in order regardless.

| I am certain the owners would not have opened their garge door if they knew their dog would react. Wish the owners grabbed their dog and pulled him out of danger. i think most dogs would have reated the same way if their were "intuders " coming in his territory. the other article about the police shooting a mentally chalenged man brings up thought of rage. Now those cops could have used those been bag bullets . That was a disabled person, If that were my family I would go after the PD. and sue them.
