Not a very complete article -- doesn't say anything about the dog at all, except that it was apparent that it was going to attack. I guess it really doesn't matter what kind of dog or how big, still the police entered a property without notifying the owners and then shot a dog coming out to alert and protect. I understand they were pursuing a suspect but it still seems like an unnecessary death to me. I can't imagine how I would feel! When my pups hear something outside, they always charge out like they are going to take someone's head off but -- if actually faced with a person, they will stop short of actually making contact. They will bark and act ferocious but they do not bite. If someone (even a police officer) shot them in our own yard, I would be horrified and angry beyond words.
