| ![]() I think its really not right that you breeders have to put up with people who make rude remarks or try to talk you down in price. When I made my post that I was happy when someone couldnt afford a yorkie found one in their price range I wasnt talking about people like that I think they should do without.

| ![]() OK I HAVE to ask. I mean no disrespect to any breeders but just feel the need to ASK......... I totally understand the extra care for having smaller size dogs, vet bills and testing and feeding and caring for and all it takes to raise a litter and the parents. I also want to say I also believe EVERY DECENT BREEDER should have the right to ask Whatever they choose and a person can accept it or decline it. My question is..... What makes the YORKIES and other High Demand breeds cost more to vet and raise then say another small breed who gets the same care? Something that isn't so popular?????? I know they ALL take lots of money to raise right and breed right , don't get me wrong, but How come the not in fashion dogs can be priced for less who are getting the same care??????? JUST ASKING JUST ASKING JUST ASKING...... ![]()

| ![]() That is a very good question. I have also wondered the same. But I am also JUST ASKING, no disrespect meant. I know you all work hard to bring our little angels into our lives.

Most likely the breeds that are less are not continually cared by the Vet. So those breeders have no Vet Bills, most are Puppy Mills. I have a fair price for my pups. My Dam is cared for by my Vet before she is breed. Then during gestation tests are ran by my Vet. I know for a fact, their are breeders that say this but infact don't. They don't take the dogs or pups to the Vet only if they have to. They give their own shots, dock tails, etc. Everything my Vet does for me. There are a lot of pups that have never seen a Vet, yet are sold.

I am still trying to get close to the standard..but each litter somethings off..lolol..I have a nice foundation because I paid for it. Now what I don't get is someone that buys a Yorkie that is not even close to the standard in many ways, they paid 'peanuts' for it and then sell the puppies for thousands of dollars. That to me is not right. It's been said on here by different YTers that each situation and person is different. The best we all can do is learn from each other, take what we learned and make the best decision we can in selecting a puppy or for us breeders; homes for our puppies. I'd be curious to hear other breeders input on this question. Hugs, Wini | |

| ![]() I am not a breeder but I think some breeders charge a lot b/c they are trying to achieve something that cost time and money. A Yorkie that fits the standard? Or a different face or body type. All takes time and effort. I understand stud fees are high too. ($1000. if you want a CH?) I imagine backyard breeders or hobby breeders that charge a lot are just going along with what they think is the going rate. Supply and demand. gotta love it. |

| ![]() We will find out in 3 weeks if our groomer's dog is pregnant. The groomer where we used to take Lacey has been breeding her yorkies. She takes her to the vet in 3 weeks to find out for sure. She will sell us a puppy for $650. She will have no doubt in her mind that the yorkie will be going to an excellent home. She knew how well taken care of Lacey was. And we still have this man near us whose yorkie is due November 22nd. And is selling his pups for $500. But, like I said earlier, our chances are slim with him. Because we are at the bottom of the list. And lots of people are already on it. So, it is either between him or our groomer. So, the soonest possible time we can get our puppy is sometime in February. If we go with the groomer, it won't be until at least April. But, that is our only two options right now. Sometimes I do feel sorry for people who would be an excellent yorkie owner and give it a great home. But, just can't fork over $700 on up for a dog. But, I still see where the breeder is coming from too because I know money is not going to just fall from the sky to take care of these dogs. |
