True silk coats that are blue and gold are not easy to come by unless you pay for it and it aint cheap when you are a breeder or a pet lover. is very hard to achieve unless you pay for it. That's my assumption. I never really looked at it that way to be honest. My prices are higher because of everything i put into my breeding program as well as my puppies. Breeding Yorkies is TOUGH I know that from experience. I don't know how it compares to other toy breeds though.
I am still trying to get close to the standard..but each litter somethings off..lolol..I have a nice foundation because I paid for it. Now what I don't get is someone that buys a Yorkie that is not even close to the standard in many ways, they paid 'peanuts' for it and then sell the puppies for thousands of dollars. That to me is not right.
It's been said on here by different YTers that each situation and person is different. The best we all can do is learn from each other, take what we learned and make the best decision we can in selecting a puppy or for us breeders; homes for our puppies.
I'd be curious to hear other breeders input on this question.

Correction, True Silk Coats are Blue and Tan. The following I just copied from AKC.org, Yorkshire Terrier Standards.
__________________________________________________ ______
Colors
Blue: Is a dark steel-blue, not a silver-blue and not mingled with fawn, bronzy or black hairs.
Tan: All tan hair is darker at the roots than in the middle, shading to still lighter tan at the tips. There should be no sooty or black hair intermingled with any of the tan.
