| ![]() I think it is annoying, esspecially when you can tell someone has not done their homework on the breed like below. In San Diego they are talking about a $1500+ dog and expecting a $300 pricetag. I'm sorry, either save up your money or LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. That's like asking for a porshe for $300 that runs! It isn't going to happen, but if it does, call me and tell me about that deal! I would like a female yorkie puppy, teacup, no more than 4 lbs when its full grown, and from champion lines. I would like AKC papers and to see the parents, if possible. I need the pup to be already paper trained as well. I am looking to spend somewhere around $300. |

| ![]() Sometimes people are lucky and have a family friend or relative that gives them a yorkie for free. But, not everyone is so lucky. The cost of living went up with everything else. My parents paid $400 for Lacey in 1992. That is what the prices were back then. I am going to make this as cheap as a Christmas as possible. Then, I am going to go look for another better paying job. $6.55 an hour is not going to cut it. But, I can't bail on my employer this close to the Christmas holidays. Hopefully I can finally get out of retail when the holidays end. Been trying to get on at the vets but any decent paying full time office job will do. I will keep putting my money down little by little. And even spend most of my income tax money on a yorkie if I have to. This breed has just totally won my heart over. Most people just want a yorkie because they are so adorable. With me, that it is not the case. They are the most adorable dogs to me. But, it is just everything about them. Their personality, I could just go on and on. And a dog does take a lot of love and devotion. If that dog gets sick, you don't turn your back on the dog like some people do. When Lacey got sick with kidney failure, I was there for her. I helped out my mom a lot with her. By giving her medicine twice a day, pleading with her to eat even though she did not want to. My mom could not get her to eat, but somehow I always managed to get her to eat. Driving her to the vet 3 times a week for a fluid shot even though I was always in tears afterwards. It took a lot of time and money. My mom had to take out a loan because the blood test on her kidneys to get a diagnosis cost in the hundreds. But, if I had to do it all over again, I would. Lacey was my life. And when I get my Chloe, she will be my life; too. Even though once I move out, she will be with my parents. It will still be awhile before I can move out my parents house anyway because I really need to save up. My mom wants the yorkie more than anything too. Even when I move out, I will have to find a place that accepts pets, because I will probably end up getting a yorkie of my own. That is how much I love this breed. |

| ![]() When I was looking for my yorkie I did alot of research like tons of people do. I do understand the wide range in prices and why they are set at the price that they are. I however was looking for a reasonably priced yorkie, not because I am a cheap skate or anything but because I have wanted one for as long as I could remember and with 5 children and my husband disabled we did not have the large funds like some people do. I am not trying to make excuses for myself or anyone else, and we are not so bad off as to where if something would arise, we will be able to handle the cost of an emergency, and the cost of the routine expences that you have with any dog, not just a yorkie. I was lucky to find a breeder in the next state over from me selling hers for $500.00 and akc registered. She even drove halfway to meet me, brought all of them for me to see, even though I had an idea of the one that I wanted from pictures she sent me. She made sure it was going to be going to a good home and even stated that she would like to have routine pictures sent of him so she can see how he is growing. I guess what I am trying to say is you have to look around, research, and be understandable as to why people charge the prices that they do. If you think someone is charging to much-DONT email or call asking them to lower their prices, they have their prices set for a REASON. And in my opinion any breed of dog are like children, you cannot ever really put a price on them, if you have the love to give that they need.

| ![]() A lot of people with modest means make wonderful, wonderful pet owners. I have friend about 65 who recently lost a tiny poodle to old age. I'd love to see her get a Yorkie, but she's widow whose husband battled cancer a long time and wasn't able to leave her much. She's working and trying to help one of her daughters. I know she can't afford an expensive dog, but I know she'd love one and care for it tenderfully. That's the sort of person I like to see find a "deal" on a Yorkie. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I actually never get irritated - MANY people want yorkies and can be GREAT yorkie parents - yet have other things to spend money on.... like LIFE & bills and food ... some of the prices these days are just toooooo outrageous. When I see the ads with people wanting one for a really low price - I just think they are looking for a puppy to love - Who can fault that ? I agree Breeders should be compensated .....but some of the prices for dogs are totally outrageous these days.... and THAT upsets me. Unless it's a special case - I just can't fathom someone asking upwards of 3 grand for a yorkie puppy ...THOSE are the people that are making it harder for the average Joe to afford a yorkie of their own. |

| ![]() Had to put my 2 cents in here. What irritates me is when people generalize about other people. Breeders charging too much, people wanting cheap yorkies. Every case in unique and circumstances are different. You never know how much money a breeder has put into their line, and you never know all the circumstances behind a request for a 'cheaper' yorkie either. After paying medical bills and vet bills after Sophie died, I was dead broke. I found Lida in MO and a generous friend paid and provided transportation for me to get her for $200, now she doesn't have papers and theres a chance that she's got some chi in her, so the price was appropriate. But I was in desperate need of another baby and I couldn't love her anymore. As many of you know, little Lida Rose has had a tough time, but NEVER once was she neglected or denied the medical care she needed. I'm still paying off her vet bills. Would I like another? Oh, yes. Could I give one a great home? Of course. Will I ever be able to afford to spend $1000? Not in this lifetime, unless I win the lottery. But do I blame or fault any breeder that asks a lot of money for their pups? Never.

Your absolutly right!!!!!!! I just removed all my ads off the internet!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() I thought I could get some nice homes and check out the prospective families, before meeting them. Thought the internet would give me more time to do this. But NNNOOOO!!!!!!!! All my responses were for either a free puppy or they would only pay 200.00 - 500.00, Yes that was it. ![]() They have no idea what I have paid for caring for this litter.... ![]() ![]() I was told my dogs are too expensive and that is not what they are worth. I do know my price for my pups are the going rate, that I know... How dare some of these people out there. ![]() I know once I advertise in my local paper I will place my pups in a week. I am not sure about the "For Sale" Forum here. Will I be bombarded with these types of people too ? That's why I haven't posted a for sale thread. I don't like putting in my phone number. I normally do a background check before anyone gets my phone #. Just had to vent, I was very disappointed with the internet ads. To let all of you know, I never and will not have a problem placing my pups. Just thought ads on the internet will give me time. Thanks for hearing me

| ![]() I think people on here who have been here for a while don't make comments like that. It's only the newbies that don't know anybetter or people who don't get a feel of this site. I don't see people on the forsale asking to lower the price here. Actually I think this is one of the best places to place puppies. This site proves that the person wanted to RESEARCH the breed before buying, which is very important. People who go to petstores or even pick up the paper might be buying on impulse. On here you are more likely to find people experienced with yorkies who just want to add to their family or have been looking for one for a while, but the perfect one hasn't come by yet. Good luck with whatever you choose to do! |

A bit more confidence. I have noticed the regulars on this site are warm and loving people, with big HEARTS.... ![]() Like you said... "It's only the newbies that don't know anybetter or people who don't get a feel of this site. " Then again the responses I got were over 50 and no one seriously interested. Though my pups are purebred, AKC registered and I have or can show 2 generations back. Only someone who cares for this breed can do this for prospective families. I'm sure their are others that go back even further with their generations. Like I said though, when I place an ad in my local paper. The pups can be placed in a weeks time.

| ![]() There is NO money breeding, not of you are doing it right, its a passion and love and to get to the next level IMO......I am very glad to see happy endings when someone who can't afford 2000 may get a retired show yorkie for cost of dental and spay. Angie |

| ![]() I have heard from several people that they got their Yorkie for a cheap price only to have to pay a vet later so they are not allways getting a bargain. I get irritated also when they want you to come down on your price. I had a lady call me when I was selling a pet female and tell me "why are yours so high? I saw the cutest little female Yorkie with white feet at the pet store for $200.00!" I told her that it sounded like that was the best place for her to buy her new pet. |

| ![]() What I find humerous is when you are contacted for a puppy. My website will state what I have and the price of the puppy. They will ask about that puppy by name- tell me they are from a certain part of the country and how expensive yorkies are there. My puppy is priced much lower then the ones in thier area but will you come down another $500.00. Another good one is when they do not buy your puppy because you are too expensive. They have problems with the cheaper puppy they bought and they are at my doorstep and expect me to help them and go to bat against another breeder. They ask me to wave my magic wand and make it all better had one ask me to take this bargain puppy and give them one of mine. We could do a trade. LOL it takes all kinds. |
