| Brown spots around her leg and belly Hi every1, a couple of months ago i noticed some brown little dots in my baby's skin ( really close from her back legs n her vulva) ,... at first i didn't really payed a lot of attention n thought it might just be the way her skin was but this week i noticed that the amount of dots have increased and lola is starting to lick her leg really often at the point where last night u could see like red "pimples" . Today they only look like dark brown pimples or stains. Does anyone know what it could be?? or what could cause it? also i took lola to the vet today n he only gave me a lotion that is used for fungus or bacteria that causes skin irritation n i have to put it on her sking twice a day . Did this ever happen to any of your dogs before? thanks!! i tried to attach some pic but i guess i am just too bumb to upload the pics here i cant make them smaller using the winrar |

| Everyone Joselle asked if I could upload these pics of Lola's rash because she was having problems sizing them. I hope someone can give insight on what may be causing poor Lola's rash!

| My vet said that was a minor bacterical skin infection...dogs lay on the ground, grass, etc get pee on themselves... USe Chlorhexaderm shampoo and it will go away in a few weeks... PS..licking can cause it too..bacteria in the mouth...not just yours..all of us. Last edited by YorkieRose; 03-25-2011 at 05:32 PM. |

| Looks like when we first saw the signs of Princess being allergic to fleas...vet treated for bacteria infection, I thought it was exposure to other dogs and the places we were going etc...it stopped until we took in a stray we found...started again...then we saw fleas (nasty nasty nasty) and she got a "hot spot" I flipped out-I though (they appear so quickly) she had been cut or impaled on somethign and rushed to the vet-it was flea allergies and despite the Frontline Plus the mildest exposure to them caused a reaction for her. Oatmeal baths are great, antibiotic ointments and gentle shampoos but since you have meds. from your vet right now you need to follow exactly as your vet advises (i hope not) but maybe this will not be the end-so be sure to note whatever products you use, the exposure you dog has and clean up her areas... I launched WWIII here when we had fleas...I hate parasites and felt so nasty having them in my house...I'm kind of neurotic about it-even things that were obviously not flea containing were dirty and had to be cleaned...I prefer steam cleaning personally doing it yourself or having a professional cleaner come in can aid in making sure it gets gone-even if she contracted it outside the home-she came home with it...

| Ruby had spots exactly like these, it was also caused by fleas. At the time I was afraid to use Frontline, but then when I saw she had fleas I knew I had to do something. So we got on the frontline, we called an exterminator for the backyard and haven't had a problem since. The spots didn't take long to leave. |

| Thanks every1 for the advises, i'm gonna keep using the meds that the vet gave me n see if it works. Lola haven't lick her skin since the first application of the lotion so hopefully the dark spots n itching can go away soon. I thought it was a flea allergy reaction at first but i haven't seen any fleas or bites or even poop from fleas, so i dont think it is caused by them I am def gonna have to use Frontline on a regular basis. | even when i live in a tropical country i don't really use any medication for fleas ( i never saw 1 on her, not even ticks, so i thought it wasn't necessary) but after your posts i guess i am gonna have to use frontline just in case. |

| I have heard from other readers that Minksheen repells fleas etc many many people swear by it on here: for personal reasons I will not use a shampoo/conditioner made from the fat of minks..but it seems to work for many and is not a chemical formula...Frontline PLus is not chemical either but... http://minksheenshampoo.com

| I wouldn't know I don't shop at either of those stores...but I did link the web site for Minksheen... Frontline Plus contains natural pesticides and no neurotoxins that affect dogs so it is the least chemical according to my vet...ask your vet...I often get Frontline Plus at Costco or directly from the vet, 1-800-pet-meds offers it cheaply.

Fipronil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Mind you, that doesn't bother me, because I'm not applying fipronil indiscriminately to the environment, but I use a different product on my Bella (Revolution, containing Selamectin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). | |

| Thank you for your response I just don't use fipronil. My puppy hasn't had a medication for fleas yet because it's her first summer. She's just 6 months old. I know for sure it's not fleas because I don't see anything on her skin that looks like it and also the vet checked and he said she doesn't have any. Also my puppy never goes outside, she's always inside the house. It's really difficult to identify the cause of the problem.. The symptoms are exactly the same as the pictures JoselleandLola put above. p.s. excuse my english, I'm greek |
