| ![]() This is off of the YTCA website. Although we may not all be in to "showing" this club is a good example of the ethical treatment of these precious animals. All breeders may occasionally have an unusually small Yorkie (hopefully healthy), though no responsible breeder breeds for this trait. Many breeders prefer a general weight range of 4-7 four pounds believing that size retains desired Toy qualities while maintaining optimum health. The Yorkie Standard states weight "must not exceed seven pounds" and as a prospective pet owner you should realize that even at 7 pounds, the Yorkie is still a small dog. (Females weighing less than 5 pounds are considered by most breeders to be unsuitable for breeding.) . http://www.ytca.org/ethics.html learn more about ethical breeding at this link |

| ![]() Please do not be disheartened but we have just seen a lot of mommy dogs die as a result of breeding, and they were dogs owned by well meaning, reputable, and caring people who thought they were doing the right thing. It takes a special type of person to be able to breed their mommy dog and we just want you to make sure you are that type of person. We are not saying don't do it, but just educate yourself really well and fid a mentor to help you, attend a few whelpings and read a lot of books etc. It sounds like you are doing all of this and we know you will make the right decision for you and your little girl. There are many wonderful breeders on here and some have more experience than others, but most only have the best interests of the dogs at heart and do it primarily to share the breed with others. |

| ![]() hi i just want to tell you about my personal experince my Piglet was a 3.9 lb baby and i waited untill she was 2 years old and was right on four pounds ... breed her to a small male after a vet check her over and said there should not be an issues ... I have been breeding for some time .. a novice compared to some of the old school ladies and gents in here ... Piglet had sonograms and 4 pre nat check ups ... We eneded up doing a Cesarian and my vet right before he kicked me out said hmmm i hope we dont loose her under anistesia ... gas is hard on the Tiny ones... Piglet had three healthy puppies and one that had to be put down i had her fixed at the end of her c section ... I will never breed a tiny again i love my babies and feel they desercve the best .. this was not my best decision but i own it ... im not telling you what to do one way or the other just telling you my story ..

Why use AI, if your bitch is going to whelp puppies they are what is going to cause the problem, and possible death of her, not the breeding part. She is too small to use as a breeder, even experienced reptuable breeders don't breed bitches that tiny. Why take the chance of losing her? just go an buy another little one if you want one, it will be much cheaper than what the costs will be for trying to breed a tiny. After you pay stud fee, vet fee, possible emergency C section fees, x-rays, ultrasounds, and puppy fees, you will have spent enough to have purchased a couple of tiny ones. Try to imagine what an emergency C-Section in the middle of the night on a week-end will cost. Unless you have a very good and dedicated vet, you will be spending a fortune. If you don't wish to spend the money, the alternitive is to watch your girl die a terrible death. I do know the costs involved, the last time I bred my bitch she went into labor at 11:00 PM sunday night, I spent the night in my vets office, with 2 vets, one doing surgery and the other trying to save the puppy. Then there is the tube feedings every 2 hours around the clock because the bitch was out when the pup was taken so she does not know the pup is hers and won't have anything to do with it for a few days. Ans she was a 5 pound bitch that had free whelped before. You have to be prepared for things like this, and be able to afford them. | |

| ![]() This is too risky . Recently , one of my neighbor had an horrible experience . He have had his 3 pounds girl bred . Ok , the mating went well , but the gestation came to him as a disaster . The poor little one died because she had too big pups inside of her , she wasn't able to eat and move . Peoples sometimes forgot that most of those little ones come from big parents , they choose the smaller of the litter and hope to breed for small ones . Mother nature often have extremely bad surprise out of her sleeves . Just my opinion , If I were you , I would have her spayed . |
