Why use AI, if your bitch is going to whelp puppies they are what is going to cause the problem, and possible death of her, not the breeding part. She is too small to use as a breeder, even experienced reptuable breeders don't breed bitches that tiny. Why take the chance of losing her? just go an buy another little one if you want one, it will be much cheaper than what the costs will be for trying to breed a tiny. After you pay stud fee, vet fee, possible emergency C section fees, x-rays, ultrasounds, and puppy fees, you will have spent enough to have purchased a couple of tiny ones. Try to imagine what an emergency C-Section in the middle of the night on a week-end will cost. Unless you have a very good and dedicated vet, you will be spending a fortune. If you don't wish to spend the money, the alternitive is to watch your girl die a terrible death.
I do know the costs involved, the last time I bred my bitch she went into labor at 11:00 PM sunday night, I spent the night in my vets office, with 2 vets, one doing surgery and the other trying to save the puppy. Then there is the tube feedings every 2 hours around the clock because the bitch was out when the pup was taken so she does not know the pup is hers and won't have anything to do with it for a few days. Ans she was a 5 pound bitch that had free whelped before. You have to be prepared for things like this, and be able to afford them.
