artificial insemination i'm looking to breed my girl next year but because she's 3.10 pounds i've been told it's best to do artificial insemination from a tiny male. does anyone know where i can go to get this? it was also recommended i check back 2 generations on the male to be sure he just wasnt the runt and will produce to large of babies. thanks so much |
how old is she? |
She's pretty tiny for breeding isn't she? I would be afraid with a little girl that small to breed. :aimeeyork |
Is this a bait message? If not, then you should read back over the many past posts about the size of your baby and what we think about breeding such a small girl.. |

I agree she is very tiny to be breeding. I would worry about the risk to her. |
She is way too tiny to breed. Are you willing to risk losing her? If not get a larger female to breed. |
On another forum, there are posts about 3 different moms dying during or shortly after whelping and they were larger. AND, the breeders are experienced..To me, it is just not worth the risk... |
Breeding a dog that size is dangerous and irresponsible and should not be done under any circumstances. Swallowed bait, hook, line and sinker. oh well, it is lunch time. |
Some much bigger Yorkies have problems giving birth . Why would you put her life in danger ? If it is only to have another one .....forget it . |
I would absolutely not breed a Yorkie that size! You are seriously taking her life in your hands! Never, Never, Never! Pat |
I honestly hope and wish you research all you can prior to even "thinking" about breeding your girl. She is too small and it is not safe for her or her future pups. :( |
In my opinion it is a risk to breed ANY yorkie as they all have the potential for difficult births but, to answer your question, I would consult with a vet who specializes in canine reproduction...they are caled theriogenologists and you are right to be researching like this and having her checked before making a decision to breed her. All breeders have to be willing to lose the female if they choose to breed them. Good luck. |

I would definitely say that you need to do a search about the risks involved with breeding such a tiny baby. If it were me, I would not breed her at all or even consider it. You need to first ask yourself if you\'re willing to lose her. Think about it... |
