Indeed!

Emma is the best, easiest little girl...and it's delightful to see her just happily living each day. She's a bit chubby, but she doesn't care and says that when you're approaching old age it's okay to gain a few.

And, she and Cooper ADORE each other.

My Binky did so many funny things in her lifetime this is one I will never forget.

The stolen mini oreos.

My husband was very ill at the time and everyone knew his passion for sweets would make donations when they visited trying to get some weight on him.

We took these little containers of oreos,crackers,cookies or graham crackers with us to the clinic most of the time and kept them all neatly organized on a shelf in the family room.

I was busy with my mother in law who was visiting putting together more of those closet maid units to help reduce the cluttered look since my husband was too ill to go upstairs anymore and the things he needed amounted to many.

He was watching us fuss and organized and after a bit I asked him if he'd like coffee.

He said sure and Binky stole my cookies...I said "when" he said "oh about half an hour ago"

I asked why didn't you say anything and he just shrudded his shoulders since miss binky could never do anything wrong ever!

Sure enough I look under the hospital bed and she had popped open the lid and ate what was left in that container.

So mama has to be the heavy again and I told her "Binky come to mommy" you broke poor daddy's heart stealing his cookies like that now he's going to cry.

He never steals your cookies does he?

She looks at me for a few minutes goes away and the little booger comes back with a full container of mini oreos and puts them in my lap.

My hubby said "see mommy don't have a cow there's more"

He always gave binky a voice and with so many people here laughing it was a priceless moment.

To this day I can't figure out how she knew which container to pick since they all have freshness seals.

Loving these Yorkie tales! I can just picture each and every one.

Our most recent one was a couple weeks ago when I came home to find Eddie missing. To make a LONG story short, I ended up calling the cops after searching every corner of the house. I was CERTAIN he'd been dognapped. The officers took the call seriously and spent about 30 minutes looking for clues. Suddenly, I heard a muffled bark. I followed it to a 6" gap behind the entertainment center, and there Eddie was, stuck, and likely too embarrassed to let out a woof earlier when we were searching.

Really a wonderful thread. It is amazing how really smart dogs can be! Reading these stories has made me smile. I agree with Yorkietalkjilly these stories are a great mood booster.

It's so neat to know after a bad day you can come here and click on the stories, read them, laugh, tear up a bit in some cases and get to know another dog and dog person through each story. I swear I feel better phsically after I read a new one and a few comments and then I reach for Tibbe and give him the biggest hug for just being a dog. Makes my day! One day when we've got a few more, I am going to read them all to my sister who is older than I am and blind. She will love to hear these as she is such a dog-lover. Her litle terrier mix, Tavi, is the light of her life. He's half Westie and half Schnauzer and such a love. She had two Yorkies in the past over the years but just loves hearing anything about dogs, especially about things they do.

Other dog story: similar to this when our Cocker Spaniel, Lady, got old and stone deaf, when she'd go out to go potty we'd flick the outside light (winter months) and she'd know it was time to come in...but in longer daylight hour months, we'd tell our Dalmation, Emma to go get Lady...and every time Emma would go round up Lady and bring her back in. It was her "job" and she loved it. Lady passed, and Emma grew old and passed this last summer. Sad, but we have so many found memories.

When we got Carly (Yorkie) Emma was pretty old and didn't like Carly getting excited and jumping her puppy jump in her face. Gracie (Yorkie) knew this and always gave Emma her due respect and would head butt Carly away from Emma if Carly (as a puppy) was bugging Emma too much. I know it wasn't a jealousy thing, because as long as Carly wasn't 'bugging' Emma/in her face, but just near her Gracie wouldn't do anything. Gracie was just protected Emma from the "irritating" puppy play. --- or she was protecting Carly as Emma would growl whatever...protecting somebody!!!

Oh dear - this could be long.

I had only had my previous Yorkie, Poppy the princess, for about a month when I had to go out of town for a few nights for work. I had one of the girls I worked with (and completely trusted) stay at my house with her. One night I get a frantic telephone call late one night from my friend. Almost in tears, she asks if she needs to take Poppy to the vet because she is scratching frantically under her jaw and whimpering a little and has been doing for a little while. She told me she was getting ready for bed and gave Poppy her ni-night nummy, aka one of her little biscuits. Poppy was happily munching along. Next thing, she looks down and she is scratching at her jaw with both of her feet. My friend pick her up and checks her face. Poppy stops scratching and looks her in the eye. My friend finds nothing and puts her back down, Poppy immediately starts scratching frantically at her jaw. So she picks her up and repeats a few times.

I calmly ask her to check Poppy's mouth - she does and says there is nothing in it but she is still scratching her jaw. So I tell my friend - put your finger in her mouth and gently run it along the roof of her mouth. Then I hear hysterical laughter! Poppy had bitten the biscuit and the center part of it got stuck between her teeth on the top of her mouth and was wedged length wise in her mouth. Well, my friend popped it out and Poppy happily finished her treat and went to her bed.

Not the funniest story, but one of my favorite Poppy tales. I thought it was great that she would just look at her as if to say, "go ahead and get it out for me." I love the complete trust Poppy had in her people to take care of her and fix it.

I have had that happen with all 3 of the Yorkies I have had in my life. They must have the best kind of mouths for getting food stuck in the roof of the mouth! I know that sign of digging at the muzzle so well by now - I know something is stuck up there and all I have to do is run my finger over the lodged food and my Yorkie is back in business. But you are so right that they look to us when in real trouble as if to say, "Uh, I need some quick help here!" They are sooo smart that they know we have the ways to help them faster than they can take care of it on their own. Funny little smartypants!

Our Bentley does that, too! He sneezes instead of barks to get our attention. It's so cute! He's never been much of a barker so when he sneezes at us we know he wants something. Oh how cute!
