I called for them to come in, Jersey came right in and little Miss Brielle just ignored me would not come in, would not even look at me.
I started telling Jersey "your sister is being a bad girl, she will not listen to her Mommy, go get Brielle tell her to come in" He did!!! I was shocked, he went over to her planted his paws in front of her and gave her a bark like no other bark I ever heard. She headed for the door and he stayed behind her all the way in ( he usually passes her so he can be 1st in). I couldn't believe it. I've tried it again and sad to say he just lookes at me as if to say "you want her, go get her" |
Other dog story: similar to this when our Cocker Spaniel, Lady, got old and stone deaf, when she'd go out to go potty we'd flick the outside light (winter months) and she'd know it was time to come in...but in longer daylight hour months, we'd tell our Dalmation, Emma to go get Lady...and every time Emma would go round up Lady and bring her back in. It was her "job" and she loved it. Lady passed, and Emma grew old and passed this last summer. Sad, but we have so many found memories.
When we got Carly (Yorkie) Emma was pretty old and didn't like Carly getting excited and jumping her puppy jump in her face. Gracie (Yorkie) knew this and always gave Emma her due respect and would head butt Carly away from Emma if Carly (as a puppy) was bugging Emma too much. I know it wasn't a jealousy thing, because as long as Carly wasn't 'bugging' Emma/in her face, but just near her Gracie wouldn't do anything. Gracie was just protected Emma from the "irritating" puppy play. --- or she was protecting Carly as Emma would growl whatever...protecting somebody!!!
