Rose any one know Debra Hardy

Does any one know Debra Hardy, location Panama City FL, She contacted me about one of pups said she has had yorkies for 17 years and shows, While going back in forth with emails and her asking every question already in my ad, I looked her name up and could only find her on Facebook, now Iam confused because she said she been showing and raising yorkies for 17 years yet her birth year is 1971? Pretty young to already be showing and breeding but maynot, Then I read her FB and it says she raises and BREEDS yorkies and golden retrivers, No were about showing all theses years, So shes content with all my emails untill I ask 12 basic questions and inform her my pups were not for sell to be breed, She then told me how my dogs were not quilty for her shows, The 2nd email shocked me a little because I sent pics and she replys by saying, "they some big yorkies", Mind you my momma is 4 1/2 pounds and daddy is 5 pounds, Sounds to me shes looking for the no such thing t-cup 1 pound sick little dog to breed. Shocked by people Iam at the point now were I feel like keeping one pup and just finding a good home with someone I know for the 2nd, Because Iam so nurves about selling them to strangers who 1st thought they chould get a yorkie for 200.00 and should be able to do what they want with them, I explained to her that I ask these questions to everyone who wants to buy a pup that any one could say they show and raise yorkies for 17 years, She refused to answer questions and just wanted a bottom line price on a pup. I told her there is no bottom line price, I want to know your plans with my pup as money has no value as to there well being and health, That AM not running a bussiness here, And My dog will be fixed as soon as shes done nurseing, So this was her 1st and last litter and they mean a lot to me,I just dont know what to do with these babies, If I sell them they could go to anyone that could say and do anything, but I cant keep them both. ADVISE

Ok, I'm convinced........I'll take the little girl. Anyway, red flag there and am glad you didn't commit to letting her have one. Yes, you just never know who is going to get the pup or what type of home it will have. One of the rescues I was on, I fostered and also took applications did background and home checks. Boy was I ever particular. Is there anyway you could do home checks? Make up a binding contract to your liking and the like? Maybe hang on to both puppies as long as it takes to find "the" perfect home. People are adopting Yorkies at all ages.

Is it possible for you to keep the pups until they're fixed and then look for homes?

Yes my hubby and I have talked and agreed we will keep them as long as it takes, This is woman just sent me another email with a pic of a show yorkie I googled the pic and sure enough its off the internet, Not her show dog, She said she sells yorkies for 450.00 and tinys go all day for 400- 800 all day i need to read the classifeid, If she has yorkies and sells pups why is she looking to buy a pup from a stranger or bloodline she doesnt know anything about, Thats a great idear keeping then untill I get them fixed atleast then Ill know they cant be used to run mills.

defin. don't let her have one. she's obviously a greeder....find them amazing pet homes and homes that aren't in it for breeding. spay/neuter them or put it in your contract that they must be spayed/neutered or risk having to have the dogs given back to you.

I would definitely keep them until they can be altered! I would also be doing thorough screening of all people interested. Anyone who does not want to answer questions is not good enough....period. The one best way to measure a person's ability to properly care fo a yorkie is their vetting history. I suggest you ask each one for a vet reference. And...when you call the vet do not just ask if the person is good. Ask very specific questions such as how many pets has the person taken to the vet...list each pet and then ask individual questions about whether they were altered, did they have yearly checkups and heartworm testing, did they purchase heartworm preventatives ( I ask when and how much they purchase so that I Know that the pup was getting them consistently).....also ask about dental care! If a person does not want you speaking to their vet, you don't want them to have your puppy! Also, do a home check! Lots of things can be found out by doing one of them
Good luck!

But "before" asking for a Vet. reference, first ask if they have any experience in raising a dog. Otherwise, they will tell you they don't have a reference because they have never had a dog.

As a yorkie owner who recently purchased (well, technically, it was a gift from my kids ) a yorkie pup, ALL those questions are more than reasonable & to be expected. Anyone with good intentions for your puppy would be more than willing to answer them & then some.

I agree I also had to allow for a home inspection, one of the kennels allowed for me to send pictures along with documentation and a video of my home yard, verifying ownership and in the least landlord approval. I don't think marriage should be asked about as I take personal offense to that-but more so who all is in the home (but that's just me I know).

Furthermore I had to respond to questions about what type of food I would be feeding, veterinary references (I sent groomer and dog day care references also)
and a little question-air specific to the breed (like did I understand about their reflux issues-they should use a water bottle not a bowl, know about ear plucking, beef staining, bacteria and yeast infections prevalent in mini schnauzers, how gassy they can be breed specific behaviors...this was for my schnauzer
but still breed specific questions and "adopter" knowledge is especially important I would think for Yorkies...like do they know about hypoglycemia and etc.
I actually respected and felt so much more confident in the breeder I was getting my dog from because of the questions they asked and in edition my breeder seemed even more knowledgeable and able to give me continual support which was important to me as an adopter...

I should say though the first time I contacted a rescue and was asked if I was willing for them to do a home inspection I was really shocked, I was like why does some stranger need to come into my home to verify I'm going to care for this dog I am getting him from a rescue doesn't that show I care enough already? I have volunteered at rescue before and we never did it...but after someone was very understanding in explaining why I was willing to do so and again respected the person adopting the dog to me more because of their show of after care and placement care.

I love that one breeder I have talked to retains a $500 deposit until proof the pup she adopted out on a limited registration (as she does with all she adopts out) was actually altered as her contract requests...hope she'll jump in on this convo. (hint hint) I really love how many breeders only have litters after their wait list is full enough they can select homes from already pre-qualified families.

To the OP on this situation so glad you as a breeder were able to see the red flags and just said NO!
