Their ears go up & down as they are teething so it could be the same dog.

Confused

Based on the original posting: My thoughts and concerns...a picture of a Yorkie next to a soda can...big concern...dam being bred under 5 pounds...big concern...sire is less than 3 pounds...big concern...after that I stopped reading sorry.

Sorry you lost one and that you are having a hard time with all this please keep up on here as so many people here will get you correct information..they aren't trying to sell you anything or fill you with marketing terms hype...people here for the most part are here to help out of love for Yorkies.

I'll keep my thoughts to myself, my mom said in situations like this I shouldn't say anything at all...wait I have one thing to say I LOVE MY "TEAPOT" YORKIE.

Did the breeder give u shot records? This may also give u an idea how old he is. The vet should be able to tell u as well within a reasonable range. Make sure u talk to your vet about what age he can be neutered, too. Sounds like he was an "accident" if the "breeder" wasn't expecting him. Can't wait to see more pictures and find out what u named him. Yorkies have special little personalities and I just know he is going to wrap you around his little puppy paws in no time!!

I did get shot records. He's so far had the first two shots..It says he got a 7 way at six weeks and his second set 2/18/2011. There's no date on the six week and the number of weeks old when he got the second is blank.. He's in full force today though and he has a light in his eyes again..He slept just about all night.. Gonna try to see if a name comes today.. I'm also trying to let him wear a little sweater so when I take him outside he doesn't get to cold.. Its been pretty chilly around here lately so if I need to I can just throw the sweater on, take him outside and he's ok.. Although he's not to thrilled about the sweater at the moment. He's actually pouting.. He looks alot better today though and that's all that matters.

Glad that he's doing well. You need to be very careful taking a pup that young outside as he hasn't had all of his shots. I'm not so sure you should even take him out at all.

Thats true thank you for reminding me. I've been using puppy pads and tried to take him outside this morning but we were only out there for a minute.. I'll definetly wait now until he gets the rest of his shots.. Even then i'm thinking about trying to litter box train him until he gets bigger and the weather gets nicer then teach him to go outside as well.. Then when he's full grown he can go outside full time instead of half litter box.. Thank you!

Is the shot record from the breeder? Does the shot record have the tag on it from the vial? IMHO, if this record is from the breeder I would not trust that your little man got any shots at all. You might want to talk to your vet about this.

The shot record is from the breeder and it does the tags from the vial on it also. Apparently he got his second shot yesterday.. I'll talk to my vet about all this too but I know he needs dewormer again because it only says he's had it once and I know yorkies are supposed to get it more often when there first born.. I think once a week for 6 or 7 weeks correct?

According to the Companion Animal Parasite Council, puppies need to be dewormed every two weeks until they are two months old, then put on a monthly prevention for the rest of their lives. The monthly prevention is part of most monthly heartworm preventatives, so you don't need to woory about giving something extra for parasites.

Other deworming medications should be given as needed when worms are found. Puppies should have their stool checked at least once when they go to the vet to get their puppy shots, then every 6-12 months for the rest of their lives.

I found this but to tell you the truth I have wormed my little one, 12 weeks old, only twice. I wormed her because her momma had worms and I had to worm her also. I check her stool quite a bit and see no worms. I keep worming meds around for them.

Because it indicates someone who is breeding for especially small dogs most of the time and honestly most people who breed for smaller Yorkies (those who use terms like teacup, micro minis and other terms) seem more concerned with creating hype over the small size and small size in breeding not the real issues in breeding one should be concerned with, health temperament, verification of no genetic defects (like OFA certification), general health testing of the breeding stock etc.

I posed the question to Yorkietalk breeders and a few breeders I know in other ways months ago that I felt are very reputable in the care and efforts they put into producing health pups...I asked how many of them picture their pups with soda or soup cans-NONE OF THEM SAID THEY EVER HAVE TAKEN PICTURES LIKE THAT, that said a lot to me.

It's not necessarily a "red flag" for traditional reasons.
It is in large part my personal experience...noticing a negative correlation with those types of pictures and bad breeders or pup mills-tons of soda can pics and so called glamor pics, but you too should also ask some breeders on here if they do those pictures and if why or why not too.

I'd not solely hold that against anyone, it's the continual little signs things like: parents listed too small to even be bred, not showing pics of parents, pic of those types, CKC registration listed not AKC, several thousand dollars for an open registration AKC dog and they barely screen you as an adopter, selling a pet at the price of a show quality pup no registration, they are selling you a pup not questioning you and adopting to you, listing champion line but they won't show you linage proof, not showing proof of health screening of their breeding stock, oh the list could go on for days!

I took some candid shots of my Teapot Yorkie next to cans in sarcasm after that for a laugh...yes that's a child's apple juice and a family sized can of Campbells...please ignore my messy kitchen

Ok, I admit I haven't read this whole thread, but...

Of all the Breeds I've seen, I think that Yorkshire may be the most
versitile when it comes to their weight/size.

I've seen them (and I AM talking about PB's) from 2# to 12# !
I seem to have chosen a Breeder, who's Pair tend to throw
pups toward the heavier range.
My Male Sneakers, 2yo, is about 10 lbs.
My Female Becca, 7mo is already at 6 lbs.
Above male and female are Brother/Sister, a few Liters apart.

BTW: Both of these animals have a PB Paper Trail, and I have
further documentation via DNA Testing, to complement the
Ancestory.

New Yorkie Questions - 4 lb pup at 10 weeks?-elton1.jpg

Little guy wearing boots for the first time.. he actually did pretty good in them for the first time.. I had them laying around and we thought it'd be cute to see him in them.. Has a matching coat too..

New Yorkie Questions - 4 lb pup at 10 weeks?-elton2.jpg

Second is a picture with no flash.. his face looks way different. pictures for some odd reason make him look different.. and way bigger.. even without the flash he looks different..

New Yorkie Questions - 4 lb pup at 10 weeks?-elton3.jpg

third is him with Kane again. He's making friends quickly with him. I'm thinking I might want to name him Elton.. He kind of looks like an Elton..

So I guess i'm just trying to get what I paid for.. I'm glad though you don't believe these parents produced this pup. I don't believe so either. When you click on the properties of the pictures the dates are wrong. The first puppy was taken 1/21/2011, so recently. However the next four are taken from 2008. None of this adds up. Thats all i've been thinking about for the past 24 hours. Believe me, my minds spinning with different thoughts. Ive researched it so much that i've probably clicked on over 100 different sites about it.. Charts, information everything. Not to mention putting the two pictures side by side and pointing out differences that are way to extreme to be the same pup. Thanks for the help!
It's not the same pup. that was the first thing I noticed looking at those two pictures. It seems this breeder is not legit in her business of breeding. The first puppy you had died, that is sad and I am sorry for your lost. She is giving you a 10 week old Yorkie in place who is 4.4lbs already from a little over 4 and 2 lbs parents? Something is not right.

He needs a bath and a week on some really good dog food and of course love and attention and I think he'll be in better shape and happy with his new home. He just seems like the sweetest dog and I'm pretty happy I got him. I just weighed him and he's around 4.3 he wouldn't hold still so it could be a little less or a little more.. I'm extremely glad he's running around and being so playful and acting like a pup should...
I'm very happy that I got this little guy even through all this and he seems pretty healthy and we'll know for sure this coming week because he's going straight to the vet.

We also think the flash was to bright on her camera or something and it just messed with all the features on him.. I'll try taking pictures tomorrow when the suns out and no flash is needed. Thanks again to everyone and I can finally breath a sigh of relief. Sorry about all the stress also..
Congratulations and I wish you great luck with him!
