| what scares me is not the gator i SEE..... it is if Remy gets away from us, runs in the neighbors back yard who does not have a fence and explores too close to water edge!!! Yes, one time it happened (the running away not the gator part), and the neighbors heard me screaming from miles away. Of course all turned out ok..but.......... In that picture the gator was swimming away from my dh and remy, I kind of new that but was still not happy at all. For the most part if you use common sense you are safe, but I have seen families picnicking with small children by a canal (Black Point Park) under a sign that says BEWARE OF GATORS!!!! are they for real????? A few years there were three people killed by gators, all were doing something they shouldnt be doing.... like feeding gators!! One was sad though, a young lady was running, got hot and stopped to dangle her feet in the water... As for killing them,, well they were here first. I don't really believe in killing wildlife if possible. But then again, I would kill to protect my babies!! With my bare hand Or borrow Steve's gun!!

| That is one HUGE gator! We used to have one that lived in the canal near our home, when we lived in Florida, years ago. I would worry about kids walking to school since they had to go over this walkway, over this canal. So, I drove my children to/from school. I did not want to take risks of something happening to one of my children. Gators are FAST! |

| Yikes! My son has to deal with those monsters on a regular basis and I never stop worrying that he is going to get bitten. He has soooooo many photos of them! But to see one that close to your little furbutt terrifies me! Stay safe my friend and follow Steves suggestion! |

| I got a picture like that of me holding a gator - but luckily their mouths are taped. There is a canal right behind us and there is at least one gator in the canal. Luckily we have the large fenced in yard and the canal is several feet away from the fence. In 24 years we have never seen a gator in the yard. We know for sure there is one in the canal - Bruce calls him "Charlie".

| I love it...I'm in CA...just sayin' gator boots for you and Yorkie are totally in right now...of course, the gator has to never see it coming, feel no pain, be fed tofu and wheat grass prior, a lifetime of an organic diet, have been free ranging, and no toxic chemicals can be used in the processing of the leather for boots.

| I too have seen on TV how fast those gators can get to land and grab prey right off the bank. I'd be so nervous walking my dog along those waters I couldn't see straight! Next one might be bigger, closer and faster when it surfaces. Last edited by yorkietalkjilly; 03-03-2011 at 12:02 PM. Reason: word edit |
