| I love all dogs, so I would say I don't have a specific "breed". They are all special in their own way and I could be happy with any breed of dog, really. Chip and Smokey, they are my "breed"! Can't imagine life without them.

| Growing up I had both small dogs (pug, chihuahua) and big dogs (Doberman, rottwieler). Rio and Bullet are my first Yorkies and I never had this type of love for my doggies til now. I don't think I'd would ever choose another breed after this. So I guess YES, Yorkshire Terriers are my breed!

| I remember seeing a yorkie when I was about 16. I thought he was really cute but never really thought about owning one. I finally got my first dog and she was a doberman; absolutely had to get one after seeing the "Daring Doberman gang" series of movies. She was extremely active, friendly and fit my life perfectly. Now, after a car accident 2 1/2 years ago, I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with another Doberman and since we already have a larger dog, I figured a yorkie would be the right size to fit in our truck - another large dog wouldn't be possible. If... I mean when, my shoulder gets back to normal maybe a Doberman could be in my future - after all, I'm still getting used to the idea that I am the Yorkies protector instead of having a dog protect me! |

| Growing up we always had dogs. First German Shepherds, then wire haired terriers, a poodle and staffordshire terriers. I saw my first yorkie walking with my husband on the pier at Lake Michigan. A woman was holding this beautiful little pup and I asked what breed it was. She told me a yorkie and let me pet her. I was smitten! After learning more about the breed we brought home our first dog together. Baby was our first yorkie and when she passed at 16 we waited about two months and brought Sophie home. I can't imagine our life without her. Yorkies are my breed and Sophie is the love of our lives . ![]()

| As a child we always had Shetland sheep dogs(shelties) (which are amazing dogs) but I wanted something smaller I think My first experience with yorkies was a girl in my high school who had one as a service dog to keep her focused (not sure of the details) Then A home with three of them down the street I memorized the times they went out to potty so I could walk past when they wear out and look at them. When I started looking at dogs seriously I started out with a list of 104 dogs under 20 lbs And worked backward from there I had it down to a french bulldog and a Yorkie(which was what I wanted) and then My family surprised me with a Yorkie for a graduation present. while I am sure Yorkies are the breed for me I am sure I will compile a huge list again and start working down from there. I am considering a senior golden retriever because they are amazing dogs and I know we have a rescue full of them in my area.

| Definitely a yorkie person here. I have owned cocker spaniels, and a jack russel terrier, and they were all good dogs, but there is nothing like the love of a yorkie! I had wanted a yorkie for a while, but my kids were young, now that they have gotten bigger, I decided it was time, and now my yorkie is my baby. I love her so much, and I don't want to ever imagine not having her. |

| YT 2000 Club Member | I had german sheperds and chi's. While raising my children. After they were grown I eventually got my sweet little poodle, however like so many others I had always admired the yorkshire terrier and finally I found my adorable, velcroed to my hip, Jasmine. I have always been a dog lover, but I have to confess there is something about Jasmine that pulls at my heart like no other has. She is simply the most loving, cutest little furbaby that I have ever seen. I am sure that you can tell that I am not a bit biased either.......lol.

| I grew up with toy poodles also. My mother raised them, but we also had every other kind of dog and animal (horses, cats, birds, fish, every kind of rodent, etc.) My family loved animals and although my father was in the Army and we moved, they went with us. It was kinda fun watching a horse hang his head out a trailer, moving cross country, with his big lips flying in the wind! lol I don't know when I fell in love with the breed, but when I saw one in 2008, I knew it was time. I did my research of the breed. I started looking with my neighbor and finally found two sisters at the end of February of 2009. This is when the tiny love of my life joined the family....my tiny Ally! She joined my elder pek and as she was at the end of her life, I knew Ally needed a little sister to keep 'us' company. After searching, Tia joined the family. I just love them to death. I'm not sure I would consider any other breed, but as I love all kinds of animals, my husband (who is not much of an animal person) has come to just adore yorkies. Right now, we're sticking with our two little yorkie girls and, of course, one old lady pek. |

| I would have to say that Cocker Spaniels are acutally my heart breed. I have an undeniable love for them. I owned two previously to owning my yorkie. Great dogs! But they were killed in a car accident. I went without having any pets for a year before choosing another animal. Growing up, our family had a bouvier and pit bull. In my adult life I always thought I'd get a large breed dog, but I've opted to go for medium to small because I like lower food bills and smaller poop. A yorkie has turned out to be my bred of choice because it fits our lifestyle. We are busy people and Troy can go with us. His poop is small so it doesn't really stink up the house. With my cockers it was difficult to take them everywhere. I also have to consider my BF as he's not a dog lover and smaller pets he "deals" with.

| wow-- what a question!! My mother grew up thinking dog should not be in the house!! So I really did not grow up with dogs either. For my 14 birthday I did get a pocket toy poodle (?? that what I remember them being called-- but now I shudder) but due to family tragedy I had to give him away at 6 mons. Fast foward to my children, they bugged me to get a dog and when they hit their teens we got a Pom... we had him for 6 years and could not take the barking and running away and I had a friend who really wanted him so he was rehomed. I felt so guilty but did know he was so much happier in his new home even if I felt like dirt. We than got a lasa Apso -- still have him and LOVE him but would not get another -- too aggressive. Then my daughter broke up with her boyfriend and wanted a dog to replace him (don't ask) so she got Bailey. She moved and I have Bailey-- he is my 25 pound shih tuz. We love Bailey also. So empty nest.. and I wanted a baby so I got Remy. Never thought I would get a Yorkie, or a dog that small. The vet recommended the breeder and now I am in love with my Remy. But to the question... my heart belongs to yorkies and shih tuz. I just love them both so very much ... I want to breed or recue when I retire. I just don't know which breed I will work with. PS My dh wants a big dog.... a standard poodle. oh my

| Terriers are our breed , all though my life we had some type of terrier , as our family pet. Our last terrier before daisy was a bull terrier Jake that we had for 18 years and we went three years until we got daisy . Now that we have such a small dog , I could never go back to a bigger dog. Well I would never say never , I would love another bull terrier some day. |

| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Growing up, my mother bred toy poodles & pekenese, & of course the "peek a poo". My step-father bred beagle's & bassets. I didn't even know there were other breeds at first, but my first look at a Yorkie, did something to me. My hubby bred Dachshunds before we got together, so I have one now...but it took almost 40 yrs before I got my first Yorkie. Six months later, my second Yorkie joined us. I have never felt as close or attached to any dog or dogs as I am with these two. It's such a deep bond, that when my husband got transferred an hour & a half away, he had to move by himself. I have 3 dogs, a dachshund & 2 yorkies, who have a fenced in yard, & won't get tied to a leash for their forays outside. Three dogs in a small apartment, no yard, just didn't cut it for us. I told him I needed to stay an extra year for my tax credit (so as not to have to pay it back), but he knows, I couldn't give any of my dogs up! I am glued to the pics & videos of this site, with my dogs in my lap for coffee in the mornings, & a check-in after work. Yes, Yorkshire Terriers are MY BREED! I can't get enough of anything "Yorkie"

| I am a yorkie person, through and through! Growing up, we only had outside dogs and when I left school, I was in a residence at varsity. I wasn't allowed to have pets for two years and I really missed having a pet to cuddle with. So, when I moved into my own place, I got Cash (four years old now). I've looked at many other breeds and I entertained the possibility of having a Springer spaniel, golden retriever and a shetland sheepdog. But when it came down to it, I got another Yorkie, June. My third one... Orio is a Biewer a la Pom Pon because my mentor breeds an excellent line. She started out as my Yorkie mentor as she has both, but her Biewer line is the stuff of champions (we can't compete here yet). I'd love to get another breed, but I know my next dog will be either a Biewer or a Yorkie

| Growing up we always had big dogs and I always thought that little dogs were ankle biters ![]() Until Emily brought Daisy home. We fell in love with the small dog breed and I thought that life could not get better until my daughter got her yorkie and I was smitten for sure. I wanted a yorkie for years and finally on my 30th Anniversary I got my Pixie and I have to say I am in LOVE LOVE, and I will never have any other breed than a yorkie. They are the BEST BREED in my smitten opinion!!
