| petite puppy boutique in brooklyn Hello everyone I'm new to this site and hoping I can find some information.. I bought my "teacup" yorkie here 2 weeks ago without doing further research about this place.. She has kennel cough and she is on clavomax but seems to be getting better.. I was just wondering if any of guys know any healthy yorkies that came out of this pet store.. I heard they are all from puppy mills which is very sad and cruel. I am praying to god that I am one of those lucky people that bought a healthy one ! |

| No, I haven't heard of that particular one, but pretty much every pet store is sourced by puppy mills. There are some that will be healthy, but there are others that have health issues down the line. Kennel cough is treatable and you don't need to worry too much about that. Luckily for you, you came to the right place. You'll be able to see all the signs of many potential illnesses and disease because of everyones insight and experience on here. The most important thing is regular visits with you vet. Good luck with your new puppy. |

| Congratulations on your new puppy!! I got my Sammy from a place called Puppy Boutique - it was in the 80's I think near New Utrecht. Is that where you went? Sammy has a grade 1 luxating pattellar and had seizures which are under control for years. I hope your puppy will be fine and I hope you have lots of fun with your pup!! I didn't know that puppy in pet shops came from mills when I got Sammy. But I'm so glad I got him. He's the best little boy in the world and he is so loved!! Good luck with your puppy!! |

| I think you need to research "teacup". There are no "teacup" yorkies...just small ones. AKC does not recognize this. Sellers who advertise teacups use this as a gimmick to lure people in. On your other note. Reputable breeders would not sell to a puppy store. More than likely your baby came from a puppy mill but I in fact do not know. She already has kennel cough and I hope other issues do not start showing up. Take care and best wishes. |

| Hi there fellow Long Islander. Just wanted to say welcome and good luck with your new baby. Kennel cough is treatable - so if that is the only thing wrong with her - you are lucky. It is not long term illness. Wishing you and your baby all the best.

| Welcome to YT. I am sorry that your first experience is this. Researching before you buy a pup is very important, as you have stated there are a LOT of puppy millers who use cute photos and nice words to sell animals that have been breed and live in hell. I personally do not know of this shop. That being said, I have looked at their website and they appear to have numerous breeds which is NOT a good sign. Also they appear to be a broker, another bad sign. Also, if they sold you you pup under the guise of it being a "teacup", know that there is no such breed. It is the usual vocabulary that puppy-millers use to entice unsuspecting clients. I am glad that you have gotten your pup to the vet and that she is being treated. I would also contact the seller and tell them what has happened and ask for all the breeders info, if you do not already have it. I would also try and find out who this breeder is and what type of facility they have. That way you know what you will be in for. As having owned a puppy-mill pup, I can tell you, for my little boy, it was a rough ride that ended too abruptly. I am hoping that your little girl will be healthy and happy. She sounds like she has a step up already, as you are doing a wonderful job keeping her healthy and looking out for her. That is half the battle, I commend you. Please keep us updated on her progress, and best of luck. |

| I got Lila from that place. She was a present to me from an ex-bf who didn't know about puppy mills. She had an inguinal hernia repair early on in her life. She had a grade 3-4 luxating patella on the right knee (grade I on the left) which we recently did surgery (spent almost $6000). She overall has been healthy but had I known I would never have supported this place. I have heard of numerous bad reviews with very sickly pups coming from this place. I believe they were previously known as puppy palace or something like that but with the reviews and nearly being shut down it was changed to puppy boutique.

| When I 1st started looking for a yorkie...that was the 1st place I called. When I talked to the guy I asked him to email me pictures of their pups. I was expecting real pictures....not the glammed up photoshop looking ones. That's when I started getting a bad feeling....then when he started telling me the prices, I wondered why where they so CHEAP! But luckily shortly after I found yorkietalk...took some advice from other threads, looked up the name & saw a BUTTLOAD of bad reviews! So I stayed the hell away from them! But the sad thing is if you're living in NYC & you're not "enlighten"... that's most likely to be the 1st place you'll go. Last edited by Islandloverr; 01-29-2011 at 08:20 AM. |

| I'm also new to YT and I purchased Madison from them w/out researching as well. She as a bit of a impulse purchase. After i bought her I did research and was also worried that she might be sick. I took her to the vet they recommended and also to Cobble Hill Animal Clinic (which is where we go now) and was satisfied when they both confirmed she was healthy! I hope all is well with your puppy. |

| I bought my dog from there too. Hershey is my first dog so at that time I really didn't know how to go about finding a dog. When I called, the man said that his wife breeds them in their backyard (probably not true) and they just bring them to that store to sell. Hershey has been very healthy until now. He was diagnosed with CT. I'm not sure if it was bc of the way he was bred or if it just happens. I don't regret going there bc I love Hershey so much but it is disheartening to hear the bad reviews. They gave me a one year guarantee against hereditary diseases and were helpful whenever I called them. I forgot to mention that Hershey will be 6 years old in July.
