| Frustrated!!! My bf and I are constantly arguing over topknot. I like to tie my babies' hair, but he thinks that it hurts them! I told him that if it did, they would help! He's telling me to do it when he's not around so he doesn't know. But why!?!?!? I hate having my babies' hair blocking their vision. I also hate him cutting their hair short so I can't tie it up! It's short so I can't tie it up, but it doesn't look good. Oh, and he grooms them and it doesn't look good as well. Last time, he used the scissor and "chewed up" Carmel's left ear! Luckily, I didn't let him do it to the right ear! Does anyone else have this problem with their bf or dh???? Does it really hurt our babies when we tie their hair up into a topknot? I don't use rubber band, I use a tiny scrunchy like material so it doesn't cause knots in their hair.

| Your bf is being silly. As long as the scrunchy is not to tight it will not hurt her. If her topknot is long then it needs to be kept up out of her eyes or cut off. If she continually gets hair in her eyes it can cause her eyes to water. Some yorkies just like topknots and will try to rub them out causing the hair to break.

| I think you should explain to you BF, that all Yorkies wear topknots & most even wear bows. Maybe have him watch a Dog Show. As for grooming, please hide all of the scissors from him!!! Take your puppy to a professional groomer, and let your BF see the difference between "chopping" up your puppy's coat, compared to a professional groomers work. My DH has never even thought to trim either of our girls, and they are both in full coat. Good Luck! Sheila |

If reputable breeders didn't maintainn the standard, we would lose this wonderful breed. If he doesn't listen, just hide the scissors! | |

| I personally wouldn't do it to my dog, because I do feel it'd be uncomfortable to have in all the time (and I'm sure I'm wrong about this). I know that Jackson would not like it or tolerate it. But I'm a sucker for trying to keep him comfortable all the time anyways... I don't even like leaving a harness on him all day, and I'll often take his collar off at night for comfort reasons. It's just not something I'm into. My dad is the same way, except he's worse than me, LOL. He'll be like "that harness is too tight on him!" when it's clearly not... or if the dogs (including his) are in a shirt or something, he goes "Awwww! They don't like it, they're uncomfortable!" Ha. So maybe it's a guy thing in general.

| Maybe you guys should agree on something, like one week top knot, the next week not. Or maybe get it trimmed around the eyes, so when it is down it is not covering the eyes. I know Pnut doesn't like the top knot, or a bow. I personally think it is uncomfortable for them, I wouldn't want to wear a pony tail all day, sometimes I even get a headache wearing a pony tail, so I think it has to be the same for them. I think it is a silly thing to fight over, you guys should just try to sit down and talk about it. Try to agree on something in the middle. Dh and I use to fight about how Pnuts hair was cut, I like it really long DH likes it short, so we agreed in the summer it would be short, and in the winter he would be shaggy! |
