| Before I had my dogs I lived in the Bay Area. Nowhere is safe to leave a dog in a car unattended. I think of my dogs as my children. Sadly people leave kids in cars alone all the time. it is IMHO very irresponsible to leave your precious dog in your car to go shopping in the mall. it was all to inviting for someone to steal her yorkie. A extremely painful lesson to learn the hard way. I do wish the safe return of her dog, however it may be unlikely.

On the plus side, this extra precaution makes me pay better attention to my gas gauge and I usually keep a pretty full tank of fuel as a result. Before Tallulah I could be running on fumes before I'd stop for gas. | |

YT Addict | I am too afraid to leave Mia in the car. I would absolutely freak if someone were to grab her. I hope the lady gets her baby back! Hopefully it was chipped and might be another way to get her baby. I take Mia either being carried into a store or in one of her sherpa's since I don't want to leave her alone. Yorkies are very marketable and I am sure the thief knows it. |

| How horrible... I am way too scared to ever leave my two in the car. I always have my KB and they come inside wherever I go. It is just too much of a risk... A risk that I'm not willing to take

| How horrible! I actually don't live that far from this mall, and there's a reason why I haven't been there since I was a little girl. I can't imagine what that poor woman is going through. I live near Alameda too where they stole that yorkie from that elderly woman, but they found him so maybe there's hope!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | This is so sad. My heart breaks for her and her baby I am always so nervous about this and if there is a chance I couldn't take Taycie with me into the store, then I leave her home in her nice cozy xpen. I would rather be safe then sorry, I don't know what I would do without her, and I don't know what I would do if someone took her.

| So sad I hope she gets her dog back. I live in Los Angeles and I have been to afraid to leave Buster alone so I leave him home if he can not go in when I am running errands. When I first got Buster I read a story about a local woman who had her dog stolen out of her car when she ran into a restaurant to pick up her to go order. I was also at a local grocery store and I saw a strange man on a bike riding through the parking lot. He kept circling a car with a small dog in it. I waited until he saw that I was watching him and he rode away. I know someone who had their purse stolen off her passenger seat while she was pumping gas. The person ran away and she was unable to catch them. So I always make sure my car is locked when I pump gas. You may never know when a situation is unsafe until it is too late. |

| For city residents reading this, don't tie your dog outside either This is so upsetting!!! I just wanted to chime in for others like me who may be reading this and thinking it doesn't apply to us who live in the city and don't own cars -- the NYC equivalent of leaving your baby in the car is tying him/her up unattended on the sidewalk while you run into a store. I just saw a poster about this and it said that people steal dogs left on the street all the time -- sometimes they sell them for medical research uses. It is absolutely heartbreaking to think of this happening but I see dogs tied outside of stores in my neighborhood and all over town ALL THE TIME. I cannot imagine leaving Sport unattended anywhere, at any time, for one minute or one hour. He is in my charge and I am responsible for his life and well-being! On another note, WHY aren't we allowed to carry our well-behaved babies into certain stores in the first place? Sport fits in his small WagWear tote bag with just his tiny head sticking out (most people don't even notice that there is a dog right in front of them when he is in this tote bag) and has never had an accident while being held in his entire life. He barely barks. Obviously, he doesn't bite. What is the issue? Why do people act like once dogs get inside of a food store they transform from a clean, good-smelling, well-behaved baby into a dirty, disease-carrying vermin? When my hubby and I are out walking and need to duck into a deli or supermarket, one of us has to wait outside with Sport and freeze (in winter) and I just think it is so silly because he would not hurt ANYTHING or disturb anyone in that store. |

| I live in New York and although I live on Long Island, I would never leave my dog in the car unattended. If I have to run into a store my friend stays in the car with the dog and if she's not there I'll drop the puppy off at my home and then go out again. When I lived in New York City I would take my Beagle with me in the car and if I had to run into a store I know nobody would take her unless they wanted to lose a finger or an arm. Now I know better and even if I had a pit bull I wouldn't leave it alone in a car. |
