				   | Have any of you parti breeders seen this happen? My little girl's color is changing from white to a blue/grey. I tried to get some photos to show you what I'm talking about. ![]() |

				   | Can't help with the color changing question but it looks very pale silver instead of blue on my monitor. Do you know what causes all of the waviness?

				   | Jeanie~ Does she have any black spots in those areas? It almost looks like the black hair is mixing into the white....this is why I asked if she had spots in those areas. Tammy |

				   | That also looks like what happens with my silver/gold Yorkie. Her silver hair comes in darker at the roots then fades as it ages... also seen similar in the black/gold/tan where the gold/tan comes in almost red then fades. It can happen too, if there's any kind of injury (by that I mean anything from topical flea tx to actual skin damage) to a specific area, the hair comes in darker but then will fade... I notice it more in the winter months bc they're not outside as much in the sun, which I believe facilitates the fading process...

My friends boy is maybe six years old, and his hair is just dark near the skin, along the topline but it hasn't/isn't growing out dark.

				   | OH! I did not realize you would intentionally breed a dog with that much waviness to their hair. Would you breed this one too? Is a straight coat something that is not important with the parti dogs? I might have misunderstood, I thought that all of the standards except color were still followed for partis? The standard says, "Coat Quality, texture and quantity of coat are of prime importance. Hair is glossy, fine and silky in texture. Coat on the body is moderately long and perfectly straight (not wavy). " Which standards do you follow when deciding which of your dogs should be bred? I pretty much know what to look for in a standard yorkie to know if they are breeding quality (especially after having to decide to spay my first girl), but I am not sure with the partis. Better to ask, than to take it for granted.

Not following any thread -- I am going straight down the list of "New Posts" in the General Yorkshire Terrier Discussion Forum right now. Wasn't aware of any parti-only threads. I was pretty sure there were no restrictions in this forum. Not at all trying to start a ruckus, are you? I asked valid questions. She pointed out the close up of the dog's hair. I asked a question. I was completely surprised when she said she had purposely bred a male with very wavy hair! That is why I put that little surprised smilie in there so you would understand my surprise. I could not have anticipated that -- Didn't it surprise you a little? How could I not ask more questions?

face as a surprised smile, I read it as an OMG ... EEK.Maybe she intends to breed the dog to a silky coated parti in order to improve the texture, just like other breeders will breed a soft coated black and tan to a silky coated, washed out blue and tan to improve the steel blue coloring? You know, breeding outside of the standard in order to produce the standard? Just a guess
