| Thor's Human Donating Member | You really shouldn't stud him unless you are considering a serious breeding program. He would need lots of tests to demonstrate that he is free from genetic health problems, etc. I suggest you neuter him a let him be a happy pet. Tell your husband that humans have way more sex than dogs. Even if your dogs was left intact, he would probably mate, what, 3 times in his life? Would that really be worth all the angst? He will be happier, he will be less aggressive towards another dogs, he won't make unwanted advances on uninterested females, he won't want to mark in your house, he won't accidentally get that german shepard next door pregnant... weigh this against the benefit of feeling manly about your dog's balls. I think it's an easy decision.

| My husband had misgivings. I think many men do. They take it personally somehow. Anyway, remind your hubby that the dog is at risk for certain types of cancer if not neutered. Also, what my husband heard is that it really is unkind to let a dog have all that yearning when there is no possiblitity of having his yearnings met. |

| Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | He is driving you mad? Imagine how HE is feeling, the hormones in his body will be driving him mad. If you do not want him to behave like this then having him neutered is the only way to stop it.

| Thank you all for your input! And dinkyweil I def think its a men thing about feeling uneasy about neutering him...but we love Google way too much to seeing him sufer like this is not easy! Not only did a felt frustated this past weekend, but it broke my heart to caged him! He has been an awesome dog when it comes to obedience. He is always loose at home and all I have to do in leave pee pads in the kitchen and he knows to go there I def dont want him to start marking the house...The decision is made we are going to neuter him...now I am researching our area to know where to take him and when... |

| Mating him will increase the problem. If you don't want that type of behavior he must be fixed. It will increase and the longer you wait the less of a chance that it will become his normal behavior to not like other males. PS I see you have decided to fix him...great choice!!!

| Breeding him would only make it worse, as others have mentioned. Not to mention, breeding a dog not something that should be done in an attempt to 'fix' a problem, which again, wouldn't only do the opposite anyway. It's something that should only be done after loads of research and mentoring. I think that you are making the wisest decision. A combo of neutering and discouraging his behavior will be your best bet to fixing the problem. Not to mention that there are other health benefits to neutering as well. |

| Great decision I really think it might be a "guy" thing. My hubby knew all the benefits of neutering but there's just something about those little puppy balls lol. To the guys on here, am I right? lol ![]() Good luck, and if you're nervous on neuter day come on here for lots of reassurance |

| I can't imagine why you would want to breed him once. After a male is bred, they mark all over everything everywhere they go. I don't know who advised you on this but when I sell a male to a non breeder, I tell them what to expect if they leave their male intact. Getthe poor guy neutered so he doesn't have to have those raging hormones. |
