| Need advice please!! Ok, I just did some recalculating and If all goes well, I will be bringing my new girl home on Nov 18th and not Nov 21st...YEAH!! My question is, how do I introduce her and Tucker. Tucker will be 17wks when she comes home and she will only be 6wks.. I wish that the breeder would keep her longer, but she doesn't so I have to get her or someone else will.. Anyways, I know that she will not be as rough as Tucker gets when he plays so I am concerned about letting them be together at first. I thought about letting her share Tucker's crate for the first few weeks since she will be so young and scared after losing her littermates.. But I know that Tucker won't leave her alone to rest, he'll wanna play all night with her and she won't be big enough to boss him..Do I need to keep them seperated until she is older? Should she have her own crate from the beginning and should I put her crate next to Tucker's or put her in another room away from his? Any advice would help..Thanks! |

| Oh my thats young!!! What's up with your breeder???? I would make sure she has her own crate. Make sure you are always with her too. hmmmmmmmmm I hope some of our YT Breeders have some answers for you. I would have to question why she is letting her go at 6 weeks. Good Luck to you. Please keep us posted.

| Well belive it or not, there are no breeders within 3 hours of me that keep their puppies past 6 wks. I got Tucker from her also and I got him when he was 8wks. Only because she had another litter that was 2 weeks behind him and she only wanted to run one ad in the paper.. I already have Tucker and lots ot time and Nutrical so I would rather take her at 6wks then let someone like a mill get her. The breeder is in her late 80's so she has been letting her daughter take over alot and her daughter is the one that wants them gone at 6wks. They have both said that the mother has been breeding Yorkies for 35yrs and she always kept the puppies until they were 9-10wks but the daughter said that the vet said it was ok to let them go at 6wks and since she is taking over I guess she has changed the rules so to speak!! |

Anyways i asked the same question before Bella came home to meet Ruby and i didn't get very many replies so i'll try to help you out. I was luckey enough that i was able to bring Bella to my breeders house to introduce them there a few times before Bella came home. I would recommend that first but not very many people are able to do that. When you bring her home Tucker should be in a different room so she can be by herself to check everything out. The first things you should show her is where the food/water is, pee pads, and her crate (they should have their own crates). When she's done exploring you should introduce both of them in a none territorial place like a living room and not the kitchen. They both should be on the floor and not one in your arms and one on the floor because the one in your arms would be introduced as the Alfa being higher than the other. Is Tucker a big Yorkie? Ruby is 3.9 lbs and Bella is 1.9 lbs so i didn't have to worry very much with rough playing because their sizes weren't that far off. But if you have a 13lb yorkie and a six week old baby i wouldn't let them spend a lot of time together until your girl gets some weight on her. Just make sure when your introducing them you give Tucker a lot of attention and be close enough to them that if something goes wrong you can scoop one of them up really fast. It's a lot of fun having two Good luck with the introduction and let us know how it goes !!
