| ![]() I have a puppy right now and to be honest, I had thought that if she just stayed this little forever it would be awesome! She is just so CUTE to me at this size. I can hold her easily in one hand. She is wonderful with travelling. I have one carrier that actually makes a perfect crate for her in the car and hotel room. This size is so handy as well as cute. But this past week, the other two dogs accidently ran her over in a mad dash outside and hurt her little leg. Had to take her in for xrays. Even though nothing is broken she is still limping a bit and I have to keep her away from the other two for fear it will get injured further. This just drove the dangers of having a tiny one into my head. So easily hurt even when you are trying to be cautious. So, I am glad she still has a lot more growing to do. I really wish they would just come out and allow "teacup" as an adjective and then put a range to it. Like under 3 pounds is a teacup. That would stop all of the unscrupulous dealers using it to describe all of their dogs even ones that wind up well OVER the standard. (Well probably not -- they will lie anytime they think it will make them more money). But so much of the general public use the term teacup, meaning nothing derogatory or sneaky about it. I think it would be great if we did have it as part of the accepted nomenclature. I don't ever act mad or uppity if anyone asks me if mine are teacup. I do shorten conversations when owners tell me theirs is a teacup, with their noses in the air (owners nose not puppy nose) ![]() I do wish people would not breed small yorkies (any under 5 pounds). It is just so dangerous breeding any of them, and to keep trying for the tiniest puppies, while putting moms in peril is just not right. But when a tiny does come out naturally with regular sized parents, I think they are adorable. Probably best in single pet homes, or with another of its size. But Yorkies are adorable at any size!

| ![]() It is funny to watch him walk right through it. We had a big scare though. When we're gone we keep our two upstairs in two playpens pushed together so that they have a living area and a bathroom. We have a baby gate at the top of our hardwood stairs. One time my husband came home. As he was unlocking the front door he thought Beemers bark sounded too close. That little fearless bugger had squeezed out of the playpens, gotten a sticky bug trap caught on his face, gone through the baby gate, and somehow gotten down the stairs. We wish we had a camera on him to see how he accomplished all that. He hasn't gone down the stairs since but we have to be so careful with him. He is absolutely fearless! |

| ![]() Troy was 2.8 pounds for the longest time as a puppy. He fell one day and I about died. Took him to the ER vet, stayed home from work and stared at him the whole day. He was in shock for an hour. He's grown and is much sturdier now that he's 15 months at 4.5 pounds. I like his size but I wouldn't want a teeny tiny yorkie. |

| ![]() LOL, all these small Yorkies. Jackson was 5lbs when I got him at 9 weeks old and I thought he was SOOOO small. I honestly had not ever held a smaller dog at that point in time. So I certainly can't imagine owning a little one. I personally would never want a dog under 10lbs just based upon my lifestyle. Anybody who is purposely looking for a dog under 3lbs... why not just go get a hamster? Seriously. With people breeding for these small sizes, they are also taking away the dogs ability to truly be a dog (in a lot of cases). A 2lb dog simply cannot do everything any other dog can do and IMO, that can take away from their quality of life.

| ![]() You are so right. I can't imagine a dog that small. Zach was about three and a half pounds at 16 weeks. Now he's over 5 lbs. His dad was eight pounds and his mom was six and a half pound so I'm hoping Zach has a little more growing to do. We have 2 guinea pigs that are over a pound each. I can't imagine owning a dog that small and having it run around the house with my 2 50 lbs Bassets and my 12 lb Shorkie. |

| ![]() When we got Dinky, the breeder told me he would be under 3.5 lbs, but I thought she was probably exaggerating. His mom looked as if she were at least 5 lbs, and word is that his dad is 3.5 Anyway, he's 9 months old, he weighs about 3 and a quarter lbs. He doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. He has been at the same weight since September. I was hoping he would get to a nice sturdy 4 lbs. We were not rally looking for a dog that small, but he seemed very calm and sweet, so we chose him. As it turns out, he is still calm and sweet--and still very little. Despite his little size, Dinky walks like a champ. We walk 2 miles every night, and he walks at least half of that. We are sure this is making him sturdy and strong. I hope he is a "slow grower." I want him healthy and strong, but well, he IS named Dinky! ![]() |

| ![]() Took my Rudy to the Vet yesterday and Were extremely excited to hear that almost 3 years old he has finally reached 3.8lbs ![]() ![]() Now i just smile and say he is smaller than normal and struggle with him to gain and maintain his weight! The vet says he is just small boned and will probably never get to 4lbs. but I live in HOPE! he is just so skinny compared to my other babies ![]()

| ![]() My Tink finally made it to 4 lbs at 6 months old. I never intended on owning a dog quite this small, but it was love at first sight. I am still hoping she will gain a little more before she is done growing, but she is a tough cookie either way. Her small size did not hinder her hiking the trails with us. |
