Hello everyone! Have been Reading the post for a few days now. Love it and so many wise parents out there! I am a wife and mother of 5 children, a 17 month old Weimaraner, and our 10.5 week old yorkie! I think our baby girl will be on the bigger side. Mom and dad are around 4 lbs., but Sadie is 2.75 now! Don't really care, with all the little ones around she needs a little size to her. Her personality is awesome. She loves to play, but also loves to cuddle. We live in the country and spend lots of time outside. My question to you all....... How early should I have her groomed? Her hair is growing super fast and I have only had her 9 days! I have no idea what cut to ask for. Long hair would never survive in our household as she is our baby and will not attend any shows! But I still want to her to remain feminine!

Keep the hair long if it is a silky I have baby fine hair and show people buying my pups it is as easy as my hair. With Molly I can let it go for weeks and still brushes out like my hair just goes right through the tangles leave the hair long till yo see if you have a silky or cotton coat. If cotton coat Yes trim it to puppy cut.

I was just thinking about that before. Zach goes for his first hair cut on Saturday. He has fine silky hair but he won't let me brush it and when I do five seconds later he's all messed up again. I was going to get a puppy cut but he has such a small face (and big ears) that I don't know if this will look good on him, but he never looks neat. I've seen such beautiful silky Yorkies and I love them but I don't know how this would work on my little wild boy.

Jackson got his first trim around 4 months old! He had really tangly messy puppy hair! He got his second grooming around 6 months old which was done shorter. I keep him short and I love it. He's outside WAY too much for me to be dealing with longer hair, plus he loves to run in dirt, grass, mud and anything else messy.

But if you want to keep it girly-looking, you could keep the body short but keep her face hair a bit longer! Maybe even a top-knot?

I keep Lucy in a puppy-type cut. I keep her body hair flowing (but not to the ground) but I like her face and the beard short - so I don't have to do a topknot if I don't want to.

PLUS, I am not that good at putting the bow in her hair.

Her coat is easy and care-free! And she is still adorable.

She shouldn't be groomed until she's had her full compliment of shots.

Since your family is active and spend a lot of time out doors, and for your sanity and hers, keep her cut short. You can still make her look girly with a topknot and bows. Leave her leg furnishings long. Then of course you can clip her down on her body and leave a skirt all around. Depending on her coat texture, which is impossible to tell at this point, you may want the skirt taken off, later. But, for now, all you have to do is ask for a puppy cut.

As for a modified snauzer with a skirt. Make sure you tell them not to cut her topknot.

Thanks so much everyone! I am really glad that I have found this place with so many people who know so much! As you can imagine, grooming has never been an issue with Remi(weimaraner)! I have enjoyed looking at the pictures of all of your babys too! Gonna post some of my own soon! Thanks again and will post the pics of her new trim after we are able to bring her!
