I keep Lucy in a puppy-type cut. I keep her body hair flowing (but not to the ground) but I like her face and the beard short - so I don't have to do a topknot if I don't want to.
PLUS, I am not that good at putting the bow in her hair.
Her coat is easy and care-free! And she is still adorable.
