Senior Yorkie Talker | how can i get my bella to go on the potty patch??? hello friends my bella is 1yr old and she is potty trained. sort of well she always lets me know when she needs to go,and i try to take her out every two hours. i have no problem with that, but my problem is that i trust her so much because she's such a good dog that i don't put her in her kennel when i go out. she never chews on anything. but when i come back she leaves me a surprise because there was no one to take her out.so i felt really bad so i decided to buy her a potty patch that i found at petco. it's a piece of fake grass that i can put out for her so she can go when i can't take her outside. well at first she was afraid of the grass so i helped her get use to the idea of being on it. but my problem is that she won't go on it!? so what do i do now??? when i came home i saw another surprise on my carpet ,and the patch of grass was clean that was the whole idea of the grass so she wouldn't go on my carpet so did i buy the patch for nothing?? does anyone have any ideas???? iw ould love to hear them

| I wish I had some words of wisdom for you. I bought one of those potty patches for Roxie (Rascal Dog Litter Box) and she wouldn't have anything to do with it. She is outside trained, but I just figured if I was at work or couldn't get home in time, she could use it if she had to. I tried treats and everything...no luck.

| Macy has a potty patch and I love it. I kept her in an x pen with the potty patch and would keep making the x pen larger and larger every week until she had the entire kitchen. She eventually got used to going on the potty patch only. I tried potty pads but she would think throw rugs were potty pads also. When I switched to the potty patch she quit going on the rugs. I would keep her gated in the kitchen when I wasn't home but would let her walk around the other parts of the house watching her all the time when I was home. I bought (2) more potty patches and put one by the front door and one in the master bathroom. I showed her where the others were and told her to go potty. When she would use one I would give her a treat. She now can go anywhere in the house and hasn't had an accident in quite a while. She was hard to train, it took almost a year to potty train her. When I was training her and she had an accident, I would wipe up the pee and then wipe that across the potty patch. That seemed to help her. Don't give up, I think inside training is so much easier than outside. When it rains or snows I see our neighbors taking their dog outside, I just tell Macy to go potty and she doesn't get cold or wet. Good luck

| Our situation is a little more unique; we live on a boat. We've trained Cody to go outside and he also uses the Potty Patch in the back of our boat. When cruising, there are times when there isn't a place on shore to take him. I started out by putting him on the potty patch and telling him to "go pee-pee" (which is the same thing I say to him outside). It took a lot of work but he goes on it during the day now (even though we live in a marina right now and I could take him out I want to reinforce that he uses both) and I take him on shore in the morning and evening. I think it is a little confusing to him but that's why I give him opportunities at both each day. Good luck. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I bought the Potty Patch at Petco when it was on sale. I think I paid $35.00 for it. Brought it home and just put in down. That night Rocki pooped on it. I thought this meant he would continue to use it. Wrong. I've had it about two weeks now and he peed there once and pooped on it twice. He likes to hang out on it sometimes. Oh well. I was skeptical when I bought it, but thought it was worth a try. |

| I use the spray from Petco. It really works on even young puppies. |
