| Sigh... Patience... Lacie is 14 weeks. Potty training has been going well lately- not very many accidents at all. We had one last week in her crate when we tried giving her a kong for the first time with a very small amount of treats. Other than that, she's been great. Tonight we had her in her crate for almost 3 hours. That's the longest we've dared have her in there. She didn't have an accident, and she went directly outside to take care of her business. Then as a reward, she gets to run around the house for a small amount of time. I was in the basement with her, and my mom was upstairs. When she ran up to find my mom, the phone happened to ring at the same time. My mom answered the phone, so I decided it would be a good idea to go upstairs to keep an eye on Lacie. Just as I got up the stairs, Lacie came running out of the guest bedroom. Being completely out of sight of humans for even less than a minute didn't sound super great to me, so I went into the bedroom. Sure enough- two small turds in the middle of the room. Perhaps we should have known she had to poop still, but she doesn't always poop when we think she should anyway. That doesn't necessarily mean she's going to have an accident in the house. Is it normal to still have to watch her EVERY single second when she's been doing so well?

| Smile! She's still too young to run around the house unobserved. I kept mine gated and trained her on bells. I hope it cheers you up a bit when I tell you I had her housebroken to ringing the bells by the time she was 6 months old. It was sure a lot of hard work though! Exhausting!

99% of the time we are out there with her. But sometimes when she is just waking up in the morning or from a nap, she does pretty good with just running out there and doing her business. When we're with her and witness the good deeds, she always gets an excited, "Good girl!" and treat. But the better she does, the more freedom she gets. I kinda thought that was part of the point. I guess I just needed to blow off a little steam so I didn't get frustrated with her. I do appreciate the feedback. We'll supervise her outings a little more closely again, and obviously she won't be leaving our sight inside for a very long time still. Thanks YorkieUSA- what do you mean by ringing bells? That's a technique I haven't heard of before...

| Sorry I disappeared. Power and wireless went out with a thunderstorm. Look at this thread and click on the link to the poochie-bells and you'll see what I mean. If you are interested, I will try to help you. If not, fine. Everyone has their own approach. Some have them ringing the stationary bell - like at hotel desks. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...o-outside.html
