That's great! When Lacie is in a blocked off area in the basement and calmly scratches at the gate (instead of attacking the gate to get out), she quite frequently wants to go outside to go potty. It's certainly not fool-proof (as I'm sure nothing is completely fool-proof), and my parents don't always catch on to what she wants. I don't live with them, so it would have to be up to them if they want to try the bells. But perhaps I could train both them AND the puppy with the bell system so they all know the cue rather than everyone looking for a different cue.
