As soon as I read this, I called Petplan to follow up on my cancellation notice that I'd sent last week. The rep assured me that I would be receiving a 100% refund in just a few days. Since they made me pay first and last month's premiums on each policy I took out, they have a chunk of my money held up. I'm so sorry that you're having such a bad experience with them. You've probably got a lot more people thinking and researching insurances now. Hopefully, no one else will have these headaches.

| I have Petplan after doing alot of research and this is making me nervous...but I must admit they have the worst customer service...I need to make a change, just don't want anything to happen in the meantime... |

| The BBB just got an ear full from me. These people owe me $29.20. I could care less about the money...it's the principle of it all . |

I emailed my cancellation notice to them on 9/30/10. No response. I called on 10/5/10 and was told that they had received my email and that refunds could take up to 3 days to process. I hadn't heard anything more by 10/8/10 so I emailed them early in the day asking about the status of my refund. No response. I'd really gotten upset with them by then, so I emailed again on 10/9/10. No response. Finally yesterday afternoon I emailed them and told them that if they did not get back with me about my refund ASAP, I was going to file a complaint. And guess what, I got a reply from them this morning - they're STILL processing my refund. They insisted I pay first and last month's premiums up front on all my dogs - they withdrew the money within minutes of my enrolling with them. But now it's been almost two weeks and they can't seem to get around to giving me my money back!! If this is any example of the customer service they provide when someone files a claim, I am glad I chose to go with a different company. I will definitely not be recommending this company to anyone ever again.

| I hear you BonBon! I'm waiting to see what the BBB has to say about the ripoff, pro rated refund. On a lighter note, I talked to a rep at HealthyPaws last night, her name is Jen Sherwood...what a doll!. It was 7:00pm last night and she was still working! We must have chatted for 30 minutes about all things insurance. I asked about the records that I had submitted and she said we were good to go and that she didn't require anything else. I really, really like her and what she had to say. She told me that she would have covered the ant bites hands down no questions and told me about many claims that they have covered...they seem very lenient. I got an email from her this morning thanking me for the chat and wanted pictures of Harlie to show her team. I feel very secure with this company at this point. This is the kind of customer service that wins me over. If you would like to contact her, her email address is jen@healthypawspetinsurance.com, just tell her Don and Harlie sent you . |

| Oh, look at her! Harlie is such a cutie, love that sweet little face. I finally got my refund from Petplan yesterday and it was for the full amount, thank goodness. I hope you get everything settled with them!

| Thank you, she thinks she's cute too . I'm so glad to hear you got a full refund, BonBon. May I use your post as ammunition if they don't refund the remainder of money? Last edited by dwells1959; 10-14-2010 at 05:51 AM. |

However, when I signed up, they emailed me a copy of everything, including a form to take to my vet to have Bonnie's records sent to them. I knew up front that they needed a copy of vet records.

Will you please post the reply you get from them, Please? I know my vet did not make notes about Bonnie's knees on her visit when she was first taken, but on her last visit, the vet did mention that she might have problems in the future (I don't know if she made a note in the file or not). I think someone should advise PetPlan that this large community of pet owners are discussing them, and in a bad light. Might make them think twice about messing with us. LOL

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I called them on Monday when I didn't hear back. Told the rep who answered immediately (!) my concerns. She emailed me a copy of the policy while we were speaking so I could ask any questions. There is a six month exclusion on patellar lunation that can be waived if the vet notes that the joints were examined and appeared to have no problems. I think that to avoid pre- existing condition exclusions you need an initial exam with the vet where the pet is clearly given a clean bill of health. The other policy I was looking at, and which my vet's office recommended, specifically excludes knee problems for life. Since that, and liver problems are my biggest concerns when it comes to medical costs, I threw that one out. I do think they have some customer service and education issues, but I felt the coverage, once I met my part of the bargain, was the best of all the policies I looked at, so I went with the gold plan. By the way, I had a question after I completed the sign-up and emailed them - and received a very clear answer within 10 minutes. Here's hoping I never have to use the policy, but if I do, I will post my experience. |
