| Winter Holidays I have a situation and want to know what others do when they stay in motels in order to visit with relatives during the holidays. I am afraid to leave my little 3 lb. yorkie in a motel room because I fear that someone would take her. What do others do when they travel...I hate to leave her and will not leave her at a kennel. I did leave her once with the breeder. Any suggestions? The relatives will not allow her to come to their homes. Abigail's Mom |

| This might sound awful, but I wouldn't go to the relatives, stuff them. Yorkies don't shed, they are hypoallergenic, what harm would a wee dug do. I'd go somewhere Abigail is welcome because she's now part of your family. |

| Gosh, that's sad that the relatives won't let your baby in their home! What harm could a 3 pound yorkie do. You mentioned that you left her at the breeders once before...I think that sounds like a good plan. I would also worry about leaving her in a motel room. If you leave her with your breeder, you know she will be safe and loved. Good luck. I'm so sorry you can't just take her with you!

If you have not other choice, the breeder or a trustworthy friend would be my first choice.

Me too. I usually go to my dads house for Christmas Day, and am at moms for Christmas Eve, and will sometimes stop at my grandma's. If Jackson is not welcome, I'm not going. Unless, like you said, it's visiting people and stuff for a few hours or whatever, but Jackson is mah boy and he will be with me on holidays! I always feel sorry for those who don't have such willing family members.

| Well this is the deal...my daughter told me before we got her that there would be issues with her husband. He doesn't like dogs in the house, their older son has allergies to pets, his mother is not allowed to bring her dog to their home, and he is grossed out by the puppy pads our Abby faithfully uses. Our two sons have dogs but after Abby visited at their houses, their dogs now pee on the floors so Abby is not welcome there either. Naturally we want to visit with our choldren and grandchildren so it is very difficult now with our Abby, with whom we are so in love. We HATE to leave her. |

| That is a rough spot to be in. If you don't have close friends who would be happy to watch her, how about a fellow YT member? I've seen people wanting to swap "puppy sitting" as there is a need for that. It's still relatively early, meaning you have time to visit, set up play dates, and get to know other YT members. I've met great people through this site who have watched Kaji for me on occasion. Just a thought!

1) find someone who lives nearby that would be willing to keep her 2) find a YT member who would be willing to take her for the holidays...put a post in the regional forum, you never know! 3) most hotels that allow pets have a list of pet sitters that you can employ to watch your girl while you're out of the room. I'm not sure how it works...Abby may have to go wherever the pet sitter is?? (Personally, this wouldn't be my 1st choice...I'm not very trusting when it comes to my girls!) 4) IF your children live near one another, you may be able to find a YT member in THAT vicinity...that way you could drop her off in the morning, and pick her up in the evening. The best of both worlds...you get your children AND Abby!! (This would be my favorite option if it were me...) I TRULY feel for you My girls are flying with us (WI to OK) for Xmas this year, and last year my Bella (Maya is new!) flew with us to Anchorage, AK for Xmas! To me, you're in a completely different postion because it's your children... I truly hope you are able to find someone!!!! Fingers crossed for you!

| Oh I love the idea of a YT member keeping her while we do our family thing and getting her at night to take her to sleep with us at night. NOW, how will I go about finding a YT member in the Nashville, TN area. We live in FL now and that would be fabulous! She is so sweet and so well behaved and it would make me so happy to be able to take her with us. Maybe someone will see this...any ideas? |

| If I lived closer I'd take her. My dad died just before Christmas last year and I have no desire or reason to celebrate the holidays anymore and have therefore offered to take my friends Yorkies, April and Ripley if they choose to go away at Christmas. Did it before I had Teegy so it will be super excellent for him to have friends over for a few days. I'll put my James Bond jet pack on and come and get Abigail. |

| Here is what I happened with my daughter who is also very grossed out by pee pads and didn't want my puppy in her brand new home that had carpets. I have to travel out of state to spend time with my grandchildren to. My husband stayed behind with 3 of our dogs but the youngest was only 2 lbs and needed more care so I had to take her I told them or they wouldn't not see me until they came here that I was sorry. That cause a lot of you care more for your dogs then you do your own grandchildren stuff but I explained that I could stay at a hotel by them and they would have to visit me their and that still didn't go over well. Still more problems I have to say they have 2 outside dogs so it isn't that they don't like dogs just not little dogs. What I came up with after a lot of stressed out conversations was my pup would come with me and stay in a portable crate that worked out great that has a bottom vinyl leak poof bottom with the pee pads in it and I would take it out right after she went. They agreed and in the end they loved Charm and they were surprised by how well potty trained she was and how well behaved. In the end she was able to play supervised outside the crate and won them over with her little kissy face. My grandchildren had such a great time with Charm she even won over my son in law and daughter. Today I heard I got a new granddog a pug named Joey ha ha. |

I am very sensitive to any smells (sinus problems) and I work hard at getting Zoe potty trained. I mop the floors all the time to prevent new odors and to get rid of existing ones. She will go outside to potty or use her pee pads for days and I think she has it under control when my daughter comes with her yorkie (who faithfully uses the pads) and then Zoe will start peeing all over the floor again. I don't know why they do that.
