Just went there on Monday evening to pick up a 8 month old little girl. She is perfect, according to my vet check on Tuesday. Paige & I have been in discussion for mure than 2 1/2 months over this baby. She & her mom Terri were extremely nice, the facility was clean & they were so concerned about her eating & drinking that they sent her dishes that she had been using. I would highly recommend them. They are 1 of only 9 certified Blue Ribbon Kennels in Missouri

Congratulations on your new little girl. I am from Missouri also but have never been to their facility so cannot review them at all. Do they champion any of their dogs? Would be nice to know. Thanks.

Whenever I see USDA certified, I think of pigs, cattle, chicken...basically people who have herds of livestock...and dogs are anything but livestock.

On this kennels website, they've got 20'ish dogs they are breeding. I am guessing that they haven't done health tests on all/any of these dogs...and I am not talking a vet visit...I am talking eye, hip, lp certs, BAT testing etc etc. I'd imagine being lucky enough to find a few dogs that pass all of those certifications is rare and hard to do....let alone having 20 dogs that have passed them. Not to mention that it would have cost them around $20,000 to certify those dogs...

If I paid $1300 for a dog(which is what she's got her puppies listed as), you bet your bottom I'd want to see the breeding pair championed and I'd make sure they passed all of their genetic/hereditary testing...because for that much money, I KNOW I can buy a pet quality dog from a reputable, RESPONSIBLE breeder who is breeding to better the breed...who is doing/passing health certs....who is going to give me a healthy puppy...and giving me more than a year long guarantee.

A lot of people take their puppies to the vet as soon as they get them and think that because the vet deems them healthy that day, that the dog was bred good and won't have any problems on down the road. NOT THE CASE!! It seems like this particular breeder is aware of this as well and that's why she's ONLY offering a health guarantee for a year!!! Many dogs don't show genetically passed health problems until later in life....so just because a puppy is healthy when it's younger, it doesn't mean genetic problems aren't going to arise when they are older.

WOW- You don't even know these people or have been to their business/home - just reminds of why I very rarely post on YT anymore- too many negative people who don't have a an idea of who they are bashing or anything to back it up!!! I have had Yorkies my whole life & have researched every one that I got - Most breeders only offer 1 year health - I am well aware of health problems that can happen later in life, but thanks for all the negative responses! I am not an idiot & know a lot more than you are giving me credit for - just WOW

I have no opinion on Cadillac Kennels. However, I wanted to say that a one year health guarantee is pretty standard. I wouldn't want someone reading this to think that if a breeder offers a year guarantee, that they automatically get put on the BYB/puppy mill list. My own breeder is definitely reputable & I have a one year guarantee against congenital defects. That being said, I have no doubt that if my pup develops some type of health issue sometime after her one year birthday, that my breeder would work with me. I'm sure that breeders handle that type of thing on an individual basis. Also, as her client, it is my responsibilty to make her aware of any health issues at anytime during my pup's lifetime. This way, she can reevaluate her breeding program.

The scary thing is, if you check out their fb page, they breed more than just yorkies. Which means they have their 20ish yorkie adults plus puppies, in addition to their bulldogs. They also sell morkies and shorkies, which means they might have even more dogs. I also saw a posting for lab puppies, so they might breed those too. Either way they have a ton of adult dogs and they seem to always have puppies. I'm not sure how they could be getting adequate attention especially with multiple pregnant dogs and puppies all the time.

I am writing this, not in response to the hand full of judgmental folks who have somehow become experts on my breeding program but for the people who want the TRUTH about who we are.

My name is Paige Robinson. I am the owner of Cadillac Kennel, LLC which is located in Bakersfield, Missouri. I am a Yorkie Breeder and have been since April of 2005. I am a Blue Ribbon Kennel for the Missouri State (1 of 7 for the entire state).

What is a Blue Ribbon Kennel? The Blue Ribbon Kennel Programis a premium puppy program designed to recognize Missouri's elite kennels. Blue Ribbon Kennels exhibit excellent kennel management practices, demonstrate acommitment to their industry through participation in continuing education opportunities and have been certified by the Missouri Department ofAgriculture's Animal Care Facilities Act (ACFA).” http://mda.mo.gov/animals/ACFA/blueribbon/

Judgmental statement #1: We are a “puppymill” because wehave a USDA license.

Clarification: We must be USDA licensed in order to sell puppies to people who do not personally come to our home and pickup their puppy. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/newsroom/2013/09/retail_pet_final_rule.shtml and
http://time4dogs.blogspot.com/2013/09/read-between-lines-usda-conference-call.html?m=1

Judgmentalstatement #2: We run “specials” on our dogs as if they are products.

Clarification: Past puppy owners of mine get a discount if they purchase another puppy from me. This is just a way of showing how we appreciate each and every one of our responsible puppy buyers.

Judgmental statement #3: Breeding rights may be purchased “Not a good sign”.

Clarification: We offer very nice quality AKC Yorkie puppies. Most of our puppies are bought by people who just want a pet but some of those people want to have the option of breeding them as well. Every situation is different and every puppy is different. Some yorkies are too small for healthy breedings, some are too large and wouldn’t meet the AKC standard. Some puppies bloodlines hold a higher value than others, in which case, there may bean additional fee for full AKC breeding rights.

Judgmental statement #4: We only offer a 1 year health guarantee so we are irresponsible.

Clarification: We strive to provide the healthiest puppies possible by health screening our parent dogs, having an extensive vaccination and deworming protocol as well as 2-3 health exams from our veterinarian per puppy before leaving our home. Each customer has unlimited access to call, text or email me should they have questions or concerns. We are here not only the day they purchase their puppy but for as long as God gives us. The standard health guarantee for puppies is 1 year from most breeders. I specifically tell all of my puppy owners to keep me informed of anything of concern to them and we are here to help in any way possible. We have living, breathing animals and NOT something which is manufactured. So, it is possible (just like people) to have a health issue with a puppy.

Judgmental statement #5: They have more than one breed if you look at their facebook page. “I Don’t see how they could be getting adequate attention” https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cadillac-Kennel/347332720425?ref=hl

Clarification: We do have more than 1 breed of dog. Please call me at 417-293-8858 if you would like more information on our available puppies. Adequate attention; We have many puppy owners across this country and further who believe their puppies received more than adequate attention while here at our home. Our customers are some of the best puppy parents in the world! Please visit our testimonials page; http://cadillackennel.com/test.htm We also have many references which you can contact directly. Also, keep in mind, our State government, Federal government, Our licensed Veterinarian, a AKC Representative, and the BBB to name a few.... have and continue to inspect us and our dogs, have awarded us with many outstanding awards and 100% clean inspection reports as well as openly providing all of this information to the public. Do your homework before purchasing from any breeder.... that is my advice. Same goes to shelters, rescues or any venue in which you choose to work with.

Thanks, Paige

Default Cadillac Kennels in MO

My husband bought me a Yorkie puppy from Cadillac Kennels in MO when we lived in Springfield, MO two years ago. We have a beautiful little girl and she had been perfect! She was established to weigh 3-5lbs and she weighs about 4. She is healthy and the entire process was legitimate. She was papered, vaccinated and had a health guarantee as well as microchipped. Don't believe the people who have never actually dealt with them. We now live in Florida, but plan to get another Yorkie from her in the future. And the owners name is actually Paige.

I'm happy that you had a good experience with your puppy. But you are totally missing the point. Your baby is lucky - she was only there for a few weeks and is living the good life as a treasured family companion.

But your little girl's parents have been subjected to a lifetime of misery. And your husband's money only further enabled the owners to continue to exploit their breeding dogs. Your happy, healthy puppy cannot compensate for the suffering that goes on behind the scenes.
