Does anyone know anything about Cadillac Kennels in MO? Me and my mother are looking to buy a Teacup Yorkie and we are looking into one at Cadillac Kennels in MO. Does anyone have any information on this kennel? |

Cadillac Kennels is on the USDA "puppymill" list under the name Gayle Julian. :thumbdown http://www.prisonersofgreed.org/ListA2006.pdf FYI, Missouri is known as "The Puppymill Capital of the US". It's buyers beware when buying a puppy online from that state. |

If they are USDA, they sell commercially to pet stores, not a good thing. There are NO teacup yorkies. that is just an advertisng term for undersized yorkies to make people think they are getting something rare and special. Most times they are not even small, the breeder just says that because most people do not know the difference You are wise to be doing your research. :thumbup: |

I see you are in MA....you have some great breeders right here. Trust me, your time to research and find the right breeder will save you money and heartache in the long term. If you stick around, read some info in sick and injured and you'll see issues facing our breed which are often times the result of poor breeding practices. If you need referrals, there are suggestions in the New England Regional part of this forum or you can visit the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website at Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club. When you are looking for a new baby, stay away from any breeder that advertises tinies, teacups, miniatures, micros, etc. This is simply a marketing ploy to get more money out of buyers. There are some reputable breeders that may have a smaller yorkie puppy from time to time. However, they will not advertise them as teacups to capitilize on the small size...they will be very concerned with placing that puppy with the right home for the puppy's health & safety. And they will NOT intentionaly breed for the small size. Good luck in your search! Take your time & be patient. Buy your breeder first, then your puppy. :) |
You have received some good advice on what to look for and not look for! As already mentioned, there is NO such thing as teacups! YTCA is a good place to start looking for a reputable breeder! Good luck! |
hi Hi- I just bought a puppy from Cadillac Kennel, LLC. They have BBB backing and alot of fans on FB. However, it does seem that they have alot of puppies and dogs. After I got my puppy (just a few weeks ago) I emailed the owner (Paige) and asked some advice as to night anxiety and what not... and have not heard back from her. (after a few days, Bella is sleeping fine now, but it was trial and error!) However, the puppy I have is very healthy and happy- the vet checked her out and adores her- saying she is very good and stronger than many other small dogs. I hope that helps. |

I never understand why someone needs to go so many states away to buy a yorkie puppy. I always thought it was a good idea to see the puppy in person. Living in large well populated states like MA and NJ I would think with a little time and research you should be able to find something closer to home. I can understand if you are a show breeder and you know a certain line of dogs you want to breed with to do that, but for a pet it just not make sense to me. Good luck and try to get a puppy closer to your home. |
