| So glad your Max is back and with a diagnosis that can be handled with meds. Just FYI....and this is a human scenario. My mentor's husband would suffer slight siezures. He began this about 2 years ago. Just slight siezures and he would experience them while he was standing. His head would bob and he'd babble a bit and come out of it in a matter of seconds. Well he went in for nuerological testing, had a couple of MRIs. Diagnosis.....siezures brought on by an old head injury. We put our heads together and wondered when he'd hit his head.......Well about 5 years ago, he'd fallen and hit his head on the concrete and was taken to the hospital.....He's on meds now, siezures are under control.....none since starting the meds.

| In reference to Max's breeder: When we first discussed that Max had a medical issue, I don't think either of us handled it well and we both jumped to the worst possible conclusions. Some things were said out of anger and shock. My mistake was bringing any of that information to a public forum. I have no intention of ruining anyone's reputation. She has since contributed money to his medical bills, has been involved with the doctors at LSU regarding the rest of the litter and has been in communication with me daily and has shown compassion. I'm sure that Max comes from solid genes. I never once said that I thought it was a hereditary issue or that it's the breeder's fault. For anyone who's attacking the breeder, she has stepped up to assist me. I DO NOT want to discuss the breeder any longer.

| Did the vets warn you about the side effects of Phenobarbital on the liver? Over time, Pheno can destroy the liver. I'd really suggest you give Max Milk Thistle to protect his liver. Canine Epilepsy - Using Phenobarbital to control seizures in dogs MILK THISTLE I started Milk Thistle almost immediately after Lady was put on Pheno over ten years ago. My vets were amazed that it was eight years before her liver started showing damage. When it did, I switched her to a homecooked diet for dogs with liver disease and added SamE (Denosyl). Her ALT returned to normal. I use Marin. Lady gets 1/4 tablet once a day so it is very inexpensive. Marin for Small to Medium Dogs (30 Tablets) All things considered, idiopathic epilepsy is a very good diagnosis. |

| I'm glad to log on and see Max is home. I hope he gets better and terrorizes his big brother and gives everybody little puppy kisses. I am also glad to see the breeder was concerned. Please keep up posted on his progress. |

Just a quick comment on Marin - I used it for a while with Daisy but discontinued it I had heard that it can cause uroliths (bladder crystals/stones) in some dogs. Since yorkies are prone, I stopped it. We have not found a replacement silymarin product without high levels of alcohol so I may go back on Marin. Not sure.

| I just completed my read on your original thread. And as not even the owner, my emotions, tears, and joys were up and down. I can only imagine what it felt like for you. May I say that you handled yourself in a mature and composed manner, even though most times you didn't feel that way. I am so glad, as well as all the others here on YT, to see that Max is home and is back playing with his brother. God's blessing on his future. PS: Good boy, Max! You did really good!
