| Max is so cute and sweet looking! Maybe Cooper missed him a little bit. They look like long lost bros. So glad you have your baby baby is home and that he will be getting the meds control his seizures.

| I just saw Max very still as if he was going to go into a focal seizure and he did not. So even if there are some side effects of this medicine, I primarily want to get the seizures under control. This is all happening so quickly for me. Max is in good care with his doctors and my partner is a pharmacist. We will do our research. Quote:

| Glad to see Max back home again. I'll keep hoping for a great outcome and that he can be weaned off the meds soon. A little bit of an opinion here....I personally don't start any dog on heartworm prevention before 5 months old. It has a lot to do with what I've said before...that a dog's organs are still developing until that age and I don't want any toxins in their developing system. I've seen where all the makers of these products say they are safe to use in puppies, some as early as 4 weeks old. I don't trust that as these products are pesticides and are not 'medicine'. If you look around, you'll see that most vets don't require a heartworm test in pups under 6 months of age. That is because any possible heartworm infection would still be at the larval stage where the preventatives would kill it, which in my mind makes early preventative doses unnecessary. Also, I only use heartworm prevention and no flea prevention. For fleas, I treat my yard. That makes it one less toxin to put on my dogs. I know many vets want to do everything to a pup, but I am more conservative and try to minimize the risks I expose them to....a major one being limiting toxins to only what is necessary. Again, great to see Max back home and hope to see nothing but positive updates on him.

| Thanks. Another update: Max just rang the bell. I don't know if he hit it by accident or what, but I took him outside and he peed.

I started with milk thistle from GNC years ago before milk thistle therapy was well known. Marin wasn't available back then. I've been using Marin for about five years now. It was recommended to me by a member on another forum whose dog is a patient at Cornell. Dr. Center recommended Marin for her Harry since it also contains vitamin E, an important part of the therapy. Vitamin E, a memberate-associated antioxidant, benefits liver function because oxidant damage to hepatocytes can affect liver health. Vitamin E has been shown to reduce the oxidative damage to the hepatocyte mitochondrial membranes caused by hydrophobic bile salts (these bile salts build up in the liver when bile flow is impaired) Vitamin E use has been reported in dogs for its antioxidant role that also help to support hepatic health. Marin for Small to Medium Dogs (30 Tablets) Looks like GNC's milk thistle doesn't contain alcohol. You could use it and just add vitamin E.
