I hadn't been on this thread before I guess so I paged a few pages back and when I saw a reference to waking her daughter up in the middle of the night to help her deliver a dead puppy and clean up after and then posting the dead pup's picture I really did a jaw drop! Was that post here on YT?!?!?! Ya'll must have had a conniption fit if it was. This story keeps getting worse. Has anyone ever been to her home and seen her operation, the dogs' quarters, etc.?

Lots of backyard breeders think they don’t have to pay income tax, I’ve even read breeders here say they don’t pay income tax on the dogs they sell, they are getting it confused with sales tax, they don’t have to pay a sales tax in most states, but they do have to pay an income tax. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, if they ever get caught, they will have to pay big penalties.

What states permit the sale of goods (dogs) to be exempt from sales tax? My quick research pulls up a # of applicable state codes where sales tax indeed applies.

In addition to sales tax requirements, most states require breeders who are engaged in the sale of dogs as a biz to have a seller permit.

I beleive this is why many list themselves as "hobby breeders" to avoid any licensing or applicable inspections, certifications etc...terming something doesn't make it so neither does it excuse any adherence to the law which is so minimal anyways it's pathetic-nevertheless ANY income one makes is to be accounted for in income taxes.

Heck, when you have a yard sale you are supposed to claim the income!
Furthermore those on public assistance are even more so required to report any and all income and the value of any gifts they receive or any bills paid for them by a third pary...ALSO they are required to account for their assets...in California if you have an unaltered dog it is considered an asset...sickly ironic...the puppies produced in a litter if not proven to have been given to a state licenses nonprofit rescue ARE considered asset!

I just called an asked my friend she's a supervisor in the fiscal department of the Social Services office!

She further added that anyone who feels someone is not properly reporting should call the county that person live in and make a report-the investigators LOVE the internet because they can prove fraud without having to leave their desks!

From my understanding, "hobby breeders" don't have to claim sales tax, but they still have to claim income tax. They cannot list losses, whereas those that list themselves as businesses can list losses, and must also pay sales taxes.

Exactly so in reality they are shorting themselves in terming themselves as such to skirt responsibility etc.

Well, I don't really care what they call themselves, I just think they should pay taxes if the law says that they should. Some call themselves "hobby breeders" that I would call a backyard breeder! As I said before, they may not have to pay state sales tax, they do have to pay income tax, federal and many states have an income tax as well. Just saying that income tax is different than sales tax, and some of the breeders don't understand that.

I wouldn't extend them the benefit of the doubt in them truly not understanding...I think it's just par for course of the poor decisions BYB a.k.a "hobby breeders" excuses, I mean exercise, over and over again.

The CA board of equalization paper I posted in an earlier link plainly states that any person who sells two or more dogs per year must pay sales tax. They also need seller permits. If they sell two or more dogs per year, they have to pay sales tax.

I think anyone confused about this should contact their individual state's dept of taxation for current and up to date and accurate info so they don't get nailed with penalties for misinformation.

Back in February, she had a litter of 3 puppies. Looking back on this thread she had $10,000 worth of puppies for sale at that time. She also was bragging about one of the puppies charting to be around 1 1/2 lbs. This was Mia Bella.

The poor puppy is in immediate need of care and she's collecting donations and offering stud service and discounts. Tanisha has $500 of the $4,500 she needs! I want to get in my car and kick her @$$! This is DISGUSTING!

Any reputable breeder would IMMEDIATELY SPAY/NEUTER the breeding pair because AAI is genetic and was passed on to the puppy from the parents.

Mia Bella has not walked since MAY 28TH and this woman is not taking responsiblity for her breeding to get the puppy IMMEDIATE medical treatment. Instead, Tanisha Brenton is offering a discount on your next puppy! You could not GIVE ME a puppy from her lines. She is disaster!

Additionally, she is offering FREE STUD services for a donation! WTH is she thinking????? Her stud needs to be NEUTERED and never ever bred again! The irresponsibility of this woman is reprehensible!

This tiny puppy laying in her own excrement being syringe fed while this woman begs for money! She needs to be shut down permanently! Personally, I think at this point she needs to be charged criminally for gross negligence and animal cruelty! How long is this puppy going to suffer before one turn of her head and her neck finally snaps? INSTANT DEATH! This is a painful, long, horrific death!

OMG This make me so very, very sick. That poor sweet baby. I can't believe she was just letting her flop around all over the place like that.

I wish someone would go and get that baby from her and save her life. Cause we all know she probably will not use any money that given to her for this pup for the medical care she needs. She will continue to exploit this sweet baby.

Someone needs to report this woman to the IRS. Probably the only way you can get her. Send all links to the IRS showing how she is making money. I will bet she is not reporting all of this income.
Sadly, exposing her is not working....people still flock to her and still buy her puppies and go to meet ups where she is.

We need to get Taryn to go and pick that puppy up! She lives within a few miles of Tanisha and has been to a meet up with her. What about DBalin? She knows this woman too! Someone needs to get this puppy the help she deserves! NOW!!!!!

This is incredible stuff. Everyday there are more and more breeders like this, some are more pathetic than the others...

It amazes me that this person hasn't had a conscious shock yet. Very sad, thank you for trying to help this pup, I hope she will listen and do what is right for that poor baby.

People have been trying. I got a PM about a week ago from someone who was trying to get her to surrender this pup.

I don't think it is going to happen. Hate to think this, but it may just be a money making thing.

I am absolutely heartsick about this, please YT peeps do all you can to reach out to this person if you know her, get this pup where it belongs, although it may be too late...how can anyone turn the other cheek to this?

Just letting everyone know-
Our AAI yahoo group is fully aware of this situation. We have offered to take over responsibility for Mia. And we explained the healt risks and more immediate options for stability for Mia. We also suggested surrender.
She said she was attached to her now- wanted to raise funds and get her into surgery right away. We feel like we responsibly reached out. But it is against our foundation to solicit funds. She was given that message and encouraged again to seek immediate neuro help. I for sure know the risk for this baby. I am following her page.

So, she has no problem pocketing money from selling puppies, but doesn't spend money on immediately seeking medical treatment for her sick dog, but instead, expects others to pay for it ....oh..and she'll stud out her dogs for a donation to any paying person. :mad:

Thank you for posting; however, this leaves little hope for this poor "child", I remember a time when my own skin child was thought to have Leukeimia, I had no insurance and without a second thought was willing to turn her over to foster care if I had to; we do what we have to for our children and for our pets...I can't imagine how anyone could allow this kind of condition go untreated before their very eyes...HOW IN GOODNESS GRACIOUS asshat insanity could anyone NOT get help for this pup?

If she had to report all of this money my guess is she might think twice. Gather up all information about previous puppies sold...and anything else where she is making money.
