He sounds great! Personally, I think $400 is a fair price. He's still young, and for me it is $382.29 for the neutering (I just looked at Chase's receipt), so I think that's great that he comes neutered with toys/crate/food too!

This is totally off-subject but I just have to ask. If you get him, are you gonna keep his name? I know he is almost one, but I am just curious.

You could change it to Michael, which is close to Marco and then you could have a Michael and a Jackson.. haha I knew you would love that! Haha, maybe that is just me who names their dogs crazy stuff like that..

LOL!! Someone joked to me about that once and I started dying. Can you imagine me at the dog park... "Michael.... Jackson!! Come!!" people would be like hahaha. I was trying to think of other MJ related names and couldn't think of one. Billie Jean came to mind, haha, but I don't like Billie and Jean is too girly.

But no I personally don't like Marco. I've been thinking of names I've always liked. A few that I came up with were Tanner, Parker, Walker, Miles... I was trying to think of 'J' names too but couldn't think of any ones I liked.

Yeah I don't think I'll be telling the parents about this one until he's already home and they can't do anything about it.

My dad will probably tell me I'm stupid, haha, but then he'll fall in love. He didn't want me getting Jackson either but he loves him like a grandson. I'll have to tell him that he doesn't have to dogsit both of them though... then he'd tell me I'm nuts. They have 2 dogs over there already. I've already decided if I need to go away, I'll find a doggie daycare to keep Marco, or maybe a YT member? I think Jackson would freak in a kennel-type setting, his personality is so much more shy, etc, but Marco seems like the kind of dog that wouldn't care!

I've searched on petfinder many times with seemingly no luck. They either don't accept out of state adoptions, adoption is already pending, my age (I'm 20) and often times it's 21+, or something always goes wrong.

I've researched a ton of breeders, got into the Silky Terrier for a while, most breeders won't sell me a male because apparently Silky's are known for same sex dog aggression which I can't have. Well, I found this little guy about 20 minutes away from my house the Penny Savers ad. He will be 1yrs old later this month. He's around 11lbs at last vet visit. He seems well taken care of and groomed. He is neutered, UTD on shots, has vet papers, and akc papers. The owner and I have been texting all morning and I think I'm going to go over later and make a visit to see if he and Jackson get along.

Her description of him:
Marco is a 10 month old Yorkie, he is neutered, shots up to date and comes with papers, I will also suppy all Veterinarian papers. He loves outside, playing with his toys, and he most definitely love other dogs and kids. I am selling him because we are moving and cant take Marco with us. I really want him to go to a nice loving family if thats you I look forward to speaking with you. The price for Marco is 500 but I will negotiate.

He is seemingly a perfect fit. She said the last snow storm, he loved! He just loves being outdoors, period. Hello, perfect for Jackson!

So, I'm gonna go over to this house.... of course you a see a dog, and you usually want to take him home right then and there! But any tips for me? What should I ask? What should I be looking for? Will I just KNOW if he's the right one for Jackson & I? If it doesn't 'click'.... will I know, and be able to walk away? lol.

I'm definitely thinking $400 may be too much though. I've been looking around at most rehomes, and most people just ask for a $100 fee to ensure they're going to a good home. I just don't know. I can get a purebred puppy from a reputable breeder for $600. That's definitely kind of holding me back.

Should I send her an email and tell her I'm only willing to pay, like, $300 for example? And if she replies back with "no" then just back off, and wait a few days to see if she emails me back willing to sell for lower price? I feel like if she really just wanted a good home, she wouldn't be asking $400-$500. I just feel kind of guilty giving her $400 for her personal self, when shelters all around here have dogs for much less and the money is going to a charity/good cause. I'm feeling bad about giving this much money to just a person.... I don't know!

Make an offer for $300. Now that she has met you and Jackson, she would probably be amenable.

She was originally asking $500, and I mentioned something about $350, and she was like... "Well, $400 is what I'd take for him."

Yeah, I understand that she's put a lot of money into him, too. I totally get that. I LOVE the dog, but at the same time, she sort of rubbed me the wrong way? Like, she wants to just get rid of him asap. I think she was ready to just give him to me today until I said I needed time to think. She didn't even ask where I lived, or any info about me, my job, etc, anything. I love the dog and want him. I'm just not sure I want to support this person!

Hey Brit, I think that after seeing Marco today, maybe you can have her meet you at the dog park or somewhere where the boys could meet and greet. It's Jackson who has the final sayso so it's important to make sure he approves.

Marco does sound like he would be a good fit though. Best of luck.
