| ![]() I know Maltese breeders, poodle breeders and other white coated dogs that are bleached to obtain the pure white coat and yes after a time and with the improper coat and the proper coat it will ruin it just like with human hair. As I see it, even "IF" the Parti's were allowed to show you'll find those that will do whatever it takes to obtain what it takes with the coat to show their dog. I happens in all breeds not just the yorkie breed. You'll see some not throw away a perfectly structured dog and good in everything else except with the "exact" color not be shown...is it wrong to dye absolutely but it's done so what's the point of arguing about it? Parti's are not allowed in the show ring simple as that no point arguing about who colors, enhances ect...those are the people that have to live with what they do in the show ring and what they represent. |

And I see that with a good breeder not only do you get a healthy dog but a well socialized one too. Hopefully anyone that is looking for a puppy will also think about how the breeder bonds with their pups. ![]()

| ![]() In the video when he is doing the top knot he appears to be using quite a bit of force when "back-combing", I believe it is called. I have never seen anyone make a top knot for the show ring and don't know if this is typical. It really does look like a lot of force. It looks like that would not be enjoyable. Does it just look worse than it actually is?

Let's say a Malt has a cream color mixed in w/the white, the whitening shampoos will not 'lighten' the cream color to white...no comparison.

The use of additives on a dogs coat is prohibited that in the strictest definition might even include hairspray or gel that is used to help hold up the topknot. There are many many products out there that can give volumne body to a dogs coat, mitigate a cotton coat so that it appears more silk like, color washes, color enhancers, dyes, the list is almost endless. In terrier breeds they have shampoos to help keep the correct wirey texture, they have products to put into the coat to help that as you blowdry, etc. Did you know that ironing the coat if done often enough can turn a coat brown? That sun can bleach out colour on a coat? So hypothetically speaking if your dog has the true colored coat and you were camping and hiking and spending time out in the sun with your pups, their coats got sundamaged, and you had to show them, would it then be wrong to color the coat? Would you be unethical then? Believe you me there are worse things done then dying a coat.

We should probably all be out sweeping our own doorsteps and stop worrying about what others are doing. Gotta go find my broom, can't remember where I parked it. | |
