| ![]() I wonder the same thing. I had mine fixed as soon as my Vet would do the surgery...which was at 6 mos. I have brother and sister Morkies. The last thing I'd want is a litter of "Inbred F2 Morkies." How could I even advertise that??

| ![]() I've been researching and researching to no end about responsible breeding practices. I've learned sooo much but I still feel that I need to re-read and re-research to refresh...etc. It terrifies me the thought of having a litter with birth defects and I'd end up raising them all because thats my responsibility because thats what "I" created. But do thoughtless BYB worry about this?? Does the thought even cross their minds?? probably not. They cant afford a spay/neuter or C-section or proper vet care, but they think they could handle a sick puppy?? or a sick momma?? I think YT should put a sticky about the subject in every section of YT so that everyone has an opportunity to see it on this forum. Granted-not everyone will read it...but it would be easily seen for anyone skimming the forums. I realize nobody is perfect but to come to YT looking for help for a dog thats whelping pups or a few days from it--thats even stupider!!! Most of us on YT know exactly where babies come from and how to prevent it if we really dont want babies. |

![]() For awhile I have been reading these posts and shaking my head. I am trying to figure out the concept some people have. I love my dog and I would do anything for her, but in the next breath they breed her to anything that is available and then want to ask for help. So what happened to loving the dog and doing anything for her. In my opinion if they loved their dog they'd have gotten it spayed/neutered. But that's just my opinion. I just find it totally irresponsible to come on a public forum and ask for help when the dog is days from whelping and then get all righteous when the answers you want aren't given. Get over it, The advice isn't bashing or being mean it's just straight honest bluntness. My Mom used to always say "If you can't handle the heat stay out of the kitchen"

| ![]() I have never bred and never will, but yes, there are dogs who suffer as a result of the carelessness of some breeders. Too sad. I read on here somewhere, can't remember where, that if you are breeding to experience birth, you should also go experience euthanasia. Wish I could remember who posted it.

![]() And those same people own the dogs that have put their lives in jeaporady. Again animal cruelty in another form. I don't believe these people come on and post these things for sympathy, they are seeking affirmation for what they have done. For whatever reason (I haven't been able to figure out yet), they get upset when they don't recieve it and call the advise that is given as abussive or bashing. But, what bothers me the most is the chiming in from some people; breeders and non breeders.

| ![]() I read through all 3 pages of post. I was amazed at some but fine with most. The only people who should breed are those that understand all that it takes to breed (including the whelping, the dangers and the sleepless nights). These are the people who have taken the time to "learn" their breed and their dog. Sadly I lost a little girl when she was about 6mos old because of a genetic defect. Her breeder owned a pair and bred them. When I got my registry papers I found out that the parents were related. They shared the same dad. She died from an enlarged liver shunt but she suffered multiple seizures before she died. We were at the vets every week to every 2 weeks. It took a few test to rule out what could be to what was the problem. The vet was talking about surgery when she died. ![]() Now I have learned all the questions to ask and the paperwork to make them show me.
