| Just frustrates me why people do not put their dogs on a leash - it protects their dog as well as others |

My daughter was attacked by a black lab a few years ago and is PETRIFIED of Sasha now. So her running up jumping on us = not cool. She recently ran up when I had one of ours out, bypassed us and ran IN OUR HOUSE! I managed to grab her by the collar and sling her out the door right as Trixie lunged for her. Thus the screaming ensued. His defense being "she's harmless" mine being "I will defend my child and dogs first and ask questions later." Last edited by BamaFan121s; 06-22-2010 at 06:20 AM.

				 | My daughter's Yorkie was attacked by a black lab and it was intent on hurting it. I threw my iced tea in the lab's face and it backed off long enough to get Sassy in the house, but went after her again and would have run into the house if we hadn't gotten the door closed. I was totally unprepared for the entire event and it was really traumatic. I'm glad your little one is ok.

				 | Not to get into posting argument as its pointless, but the argument I was trying to make was based on the risk. A pit bull (or a German Sheppard to a lesser extent) is more risky due to the breeds aggression AND their size. One of my Yorkies is really aggressive towards people and large dogs, and I train him over and over again to stop the behavior. Every time we go on a walk, as a matter fact. He refuses to learn even when I lift him in his harness when he acts like a terror. However, if he were to "attack", the results would be insignificant in comparison with a large aggressive breed. Never met an aggressive lab, but sure, I believe any dog can have issues. |

With respect to your wasp spray comment, I would never consider such a thing. You should NOT use a product like a poison in any manner that is inconsistent with the products warning labels. Have you considered what would happen if that spray got in a persons (or neighbor's dog's) eyes. Read the Material Safety Data Sheet. Better yet, get some pepper spray or dog repellent if you think you really need it.

She has two toy poodles and called the other day to say she was confronted by a pit bull late at night when she was walking her little ones, she barely made it in the house safely and the dog was attacking the door after her. Does it work well?

				 | I would have been terrified if I big dog came running towards me. I guess since I was always knocked down, off my bike from a Black Lab as a child when I rode to a friends house, daily! This same lab knocked me off the boat dock into the river also. Ever since, I have had a fear of big dogs, especially black labs! I know if a big dog came running towards me, I would pick up my little yorkie or pomeranian and would fear being attacked. |

				 | Last night the (older lady) owner of the labs stopped me while I was walking Kobe and apologized for her dogs getting out but told me that they wouldn't have done anything to me or him.
