| Of course we are. But you know we wouldn't go anywhere that we couldn't take them with us. LOL!

| There are probably big differences by area, but $30 for a college student to watch pups around here...I wouldn't be paying it. Overnight would be one thing, but just for most of a day (when they don't have to be there the whole time)? Sounds like a lot when they will be dropped off at their house. Well then, I guess it depends how many dogs there are...

| ahhhh I wish more YT'ers lived close to me, lol. I do feel confident that this girl will take good care of them, but a YT'er would be even better as I know you all know about Yorkies! I will have to do her up a list.. things not to do.. lol. It will be somewhat of a big job for her - Oliver hates men, there's 2 living at her house. Am gonna go over a few days before the first day trip and introduce everyone - hopefully if we do it correctly Ollie will chill. Mya is hyper hyper hyper, loves everyone, wants all the attention - and - is still not 100% house trained. We have many accident free days, but only because we are learning her "gotta go" signs. She gets that she should go outside, but she still doesn't get that she shouldn't go inside. Hoping to have her there by August... She is being spayed next month, hopefully that doesn't cause a set back. Mya has free boarding for life with her breeder. I would only take Oliver there as well if she agreed not to crate him - he spent too much of his life in a cage. He would lose it in an unfamiliar place caged away. Plus she works all day (grooms) so I think they'd have more fun with someone who has nothing other than play with them all day to do. Plus even if I give $25, for 3 days that'll be $75 in her pocket to do relatively little. I would have done it at her age for sure, lol.

People say all the time that I pay too much because my sitter only has to come 4 times per day and has the rest of the time to herself. I never understand that line of thinking... she has to come FOUR set times per day, that means she can't go very far from home, she can't make many plans because every few hours, she has to be at my house. So basically her entire day for 8-10 days that I am gone, revolves around MY pets ![]() I am sure your clients appreciate you very much!

| Having insurance and/or doing overnights would be different. And having two dogs instead of one is different to an extent. And even coming to your house a few times a day to check on them, feed, etc. requires a lot of dedication and I can see $30 a day. I'm just coming from the standpoint of it being an 18(ish)-year-old with no insurance who can leave the house whenever. I actually would be extremely nervous to leave Ellie with somebody so young. I'd sooner she was crated at her vet's office and didn't have any fun b/c at least I'd know there were qualified techs and assistants watching her. I used to watch pups for family and friends. In some cases it was worth $30+ and in others it was worth less than $15. Depends on the dog and what they require.

I agree. I recently let a few customers go because it was just too much for me. I do dog walks during the day and I had a few with NO training, owners won't listen. They charge people and other dogs, pull so hard that I am sore when I get home. I decided its not worth it, as much as I love the dogs the owners need to buck up and spend some time with their dogs. My job shouldnt be that hard. I have atleast 6 visits a day and a couple days a week I have 10-12. This weekend with Fathers Day, I have several out of town. I am always stuck close to home & my family has to work around my schedule. But, I love what I do and wouldnt trade it for anything. | |

| I pay $20 for 30 minutes when my petsitters do lunch time visits. When I travel, they make 3 visits and then sleep over at our house. The cost of that in this area is between $50 and $65 depending on the sitter. It's not that hard over here - I do all the work LOL. They *overall* do a good job, but they are not me, and they will never be me, and I have not yet been able to really accept that. LOL

| Gotta say I'm a little surprised that the age of this girl even came into it. She's 19, responsible, loves animals, and I know her personally. It really does bother me when people of a certain age group are all grouped together and discriminated against. I would definitely NOT rather have my babies sit in a cage at the vet while I am off having fun. They might be safe, but they'd be miserable. Sometimes you have to let go of the leash, so to speak and chill!!! I would never ever even think about leaving them with her if I didn't trust her (and her mom, as I know she'll be helping out) 100% completely. Sorry, just had to say it. I'm likely one of the younger ones on this board at 28, and I still get grouped into those fun age classifications all the time. Just wanted to remind people to base their decisions on the PERSON, not on how old they are. There sure are a whole lot of immature 19 year olds out there, but there are some who are more mature and better mothers (both skin and fur) than a whole crap load of 40 year olds. I work in public health, I see neglectful parents everyday. Actually, I think working in public health has helped me to stop those age classifications myself. You can be immature and neglectful at any age... and so many are.

| I would see what doggie day care costs in your area for a full day. That would give you a good idea of what the going rate is.
