| Reasonable pup sitting rate? I am totally stumped on a reasonable price to offer a friends daughter to watch my dogs for a few days this summer. My brother (whom we see maybe once a year) is coming in August, and we along with my parents want to do 3 or 4 day trips, and my friends daughter (starting college next year, so older and very responsible) is hopefully gonna pup sit. They will be long days... mid morning until late night. I was thinking $20 a day but I'm not sure if that's too cheap? I mean, it's not as though she has to be with them ALL the time, they can be left for a few hours - I just don't want them alone all day long. Would $30 be a more respectable rate for the day? I don't really wanna go any higher than that as the day trips themselves are already gonna be expensive. Am I being too cheap??? I want the best care for them, I want it to be fun for them too so they aren't sad all day that I'm gone.

| I'm about that age and I'd take $30 a day. It's more than what I got now. And to do an easy and fun job like take care of some furkids. I'd rather do that than watching skin ones.

| I think it depends on the area. Think about how much boarding is per dog per day and probably cut that in half is my guess? I'm not too sure though lol. |

| I know of a few places around here that charge around $30 for them to come to your house to check up , 3 times a day. I think $30 is pretty reasonable... I'd take $20 even. But thats just me, i'm easy. |

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | I know I heard an advertisment for pet sitting on the radio and it was 38 dollars a day. One of my past puppies comes from time to time. I dont charge them but they have paid me 1,000 dollars to keep her 2 1/2 weeks while they were in Europe, then another time they gave me 350 for the week they went to Hawaii. They called it a bribe. lol, not just that but they brought treats, presents, you name it. I couldnt say no even if I wanted to. |

| The sitter I uses charges 20 dollars per half hour visit plus three dollars per additional pet. However, they are a company, bonded, insured, etc. All things that cost money. Since this is just a friend, with no overhead... I would think 25-30 a day is perfectly reasonable.

| Sure, but, that would defeat your purpose. I'd have to tag on my flight cost.

| Wanna move to Ontario, Canada? LOL... $14 a day is so cheap, gosh I would love that.. lol Thanks for all the input! I think I will offer her $25 a day. I will be taking the dogs to her place, they have 2 dogs as well. So it'll be like a puppy play date minus mom for them. Hopefully she'll go for that, it will be soooo nice to get away and not have to worry about them (although I still will!). Mya's breeder would take her at least for the day for free - but I don't know if she would take Oliver as well. I'll have to call and see, even if I just take them there one day to keep costs down.

| I think $20 or $30 per day would be just fine! My friend pet sits for a living, she is insured, bonded, etc. and charges $60 for overnight visits (12 full hours from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.) so if you are gonna be gone most of the day and evening and you want her to come over say 3 times a day, I would think $10 per visit would be just fine. I'd do it for $20 or $30 per day.
