Someone tried to kill my dogs today

I want to thank everyone for your well wishes. I just got off the phone with the Animal Control. Apparently the police department told me that they do not handle these types of calls and switched me to Animal Control, who by the way only has one person handling reports in the PG County area. The person I talked with told me that this seems like a civil complaint and that someone would probably come out on Monday to talk with me. I am going to my Civic Association meeting on Thursday and inform them of what happened. I will also post notices around the neighborhood to let others know what happened. I do not know for the life of me who would do something like this.

OMG, Thank goodness you caught it so fast. I can't believe people can be so cruel. I hope you let all your neighbors know to be on the lookout for strangers in the area or anything out of the ordinary. So sad that we live in a world where people like this exist.

You may have already done this but be sure to check the yard for more meat. There may still be some that you or your dogs didn't find. I'm glad everyone is going to be ok. A few years ago some one poisoned my friends dog with antifreeze. She was heart broken when he died.

I am so sorry that happened to your babies.Thank goodness you caught it. There is a lot of very sick people out there, we just don't know. If it is not hard enough to let these wonderful little babies out side to get fresh air and to go potty for a few minutes ,with out worrying about predator birds hurting them or worse taking them off, them we now have to worry about these damn nuts doing something like that as well. I sure hope you get a hold of a t.v. station,that will air this. I always stand outside and wait with my 6 little ones, not because I every thought that would happen but because I have heard so many terrible stories about people stealing dogs and animals getting them. Good luck in finding the person or people responsible.

That's what makes me so angry. These are literally my children in so far as my love for them and my responsibility to keep them safe, and yet, this is not really a crime. It's just property And who would do that to little dogs? Had to be somebody who knew you had dogs. I think that is sick.

Glad to hear your babies are ok. I have heard of this before. There are some really twisted, sick, evil people out there. Have you checked with your neighbors? next door neighbors and the ones in the back of you? Who could have had access to your yard?

Ugh! That is terrible! My oldest yorkie was posioned with Decon! It was one of the worst experiences of my life... we didnt know and it went through her intestinal tract! It was terrible! Glad you were able to find the hamburger and that your baby vomitted the burger/posion up! I still get nervous when thinking of what we went through, and can feel your pain!

OMG i cant believe that someone did that to your baby im SOOO glad shes ok that made me SICK to my stomach our old landlord used to put antifreeze out in dishes for the stray cats we waited for her to leave then tossesd them stupid bit$%. This is why it is SOOOOO important to teach drop it or out or leave it Penny tried to eat a SNAIL!! I was so glad I taught her DROP IT ...stupid people i cant believe them

I can't believe horrible people like this...Just another good reason to train our dogs to not eat anything without permission. I had a lab mix that I had trained to not pick up food without me saying it was okay after I caught someone throwing meat over our fence. Turned out it was our neighbor and he asked my parents if he could throw them (our dogs) some bones, but he definatly got an earful from me (15 at the time) because I didn't know this, and I knew he really didn't like my dog because he liked to bark.
After that I trained him to not eat without me saying "okay", I could leave a steak on the ground in front of him and he wouldn't even look at it until I told him he could have it. He wouldn't even eat his dinner from my parents until I came in the room and said "okay". It definatly proved to be handy and gave me a piece of mind. Now I just have to train my new one that trick...he is still reisitant to learn anything. Gets too excited about treats.
I'm sorry you had to go through this, and I hope they find out who has been doing this. I'm glad your little ones are okay and I truely hope no one tries this again. Maybe you can ask your neighbors if they saw anyone lurking around? Maybe it was one of your neighbors? Any of them complain about your dogs ever? It's an awful thought, but you never know with people...

We actually had a problem with this recently on our military base. Someone was putting antifreeze in bowls and leaving them around the base housing, and a kid found a bowl when he was out walking his dog. I dont think they found who was doing it, but once the notice was posted to stop trying to kill the strays before they killed someone's pet it stopped. People can really be horrible.

OMG WTF is wrong with people?!?!? I'm so sorry that your dogs were targeted in this heinous manner Thank God you were there and that your baby is going to be okay. I cannot believe that this is not a criminal case! At the very least, it should be an animal cruelty charge, as death by rat poison is very painful for the animal

What is Wrong with people?? It's so sad to hear something like this and I'm glad your babies are ok. When I was little my cousin's dogs were feed kibble soaked in antifreeze and died. And it wasn't just one dog. Their dog would die and they wouldn't know why or how and would eventually get another dog only to have the same thing happen. It turns out it was one of their neighbors. Ughh some people!
