| I agree I feel sorry for her little girl if she could be so cavalier about breeding.

| Lucy got propositioned too. About a week after we brought her home. We just told them she's not that kind of girl and walked away. Not really. But even after we patiently explained why that was such a bad idea . . they were still talking about how we could 'get back the money we paid for her'. That kind of thinking is so prevalent . . I don't know in the world we can ever stop it. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | This doesn't surprise me at all - I've been asked many times and my answer is always the same. I will NOT contribute to the overpopulation of dogs and with random breeding these days that's exactly what these people are doing. Also- with small breeds ask them if they're prepared for the things that go wrong - if they love their pet - they could lose them then how would they feel knowing they caused the death ? Tiny dogs are more prone to complications - then the expense if something does go wrong - and the suffering the dog goes thru if things don't go as planned. It can't be stressed enough that the more people breed - the more dogs die in shelters - I don't care how 'cute' they are - we have a big problem they may say the puppies are spoken for - All dogs are NOT dream dogs and all owners are not dream owners It may seem like a compliment to hear that but if someone does ask - give them the WORST scenerio - tell them the stories you've heard and you love your dog to much to put them thru a planned pregnancy - the dogs have no say in the matter but WE do |

| When I got Bella, my mom, told me I should breed her and make money from it. Uh...yeah right. Like I would make money. I would end up keeping them all. I wanted a companion and friend not a baby machine. |

| I guess that I was shocked more than anything. Here was this baby and the woman was already thinking of the possibility of breeding instead of just enjoying her. They had recently gotten her and were shopping for supplies. I just hope that she rethinks it and decides against it, especially since the poodled looked as though she might be a tiny...she had such small and delicate features. I've never had this happen to me and I hope that I would be more prepared if it were to happen again and I will tell them of the overpopulation as well as the dangers. I am just amazed at all the different stories that have been told. It would even cross my mind to bring in a strangers dog to breed with my baby...it would have to be done the correct way if I were to even think about it at all!

"Getting back the money we paid for her" -- what a strange way to view a pet, wanting to force it to procreate to pay its own way. Very distressing. | |

| Reminds me of a time when I was in a vet's office (not my usual vet). There was a lady who had brought in a 7-8 week old Yorkie pup for its shots. Of course, I was checking out the puppy and I was disgusted b/c it seemed very sickly and could barely hold its own head up! She was proud to announce that she got the puppy and planned on breeding it!!!! I told her an ethical breeder would keep the puppy longer and would discourage breeding, etc and that she didn't know what the dog would like full grown.... she was very defensive and had definitely made up her mind. Even more sad, the lady had a girl around 10 years old with her who was happily chiming in with her and she was being taught this was RIGHT and OK. I was fuming by the time I left and it makes me scared to think of how the puppy is doing now.

| I had someone once ask me if they could breed Nicky with there Shih-tzu. First off my sister knows this lady I know nothing about her or her pooch. Second I had NO interest in breeding Nicky in the first place, I have read wayyyy to many stories of breedings gone wrong. Either the male was too big or the female died in giving birth. My not knowing how big or small her girl was Said no. Sooooo the lady sends me an email asking me why not. That she thought Nicky was adorable and with her Mollie they would be beautiful puppies... So me NOT wanting to sound like a witch said... "Do you know ANYTHING about breeding? How old is Mollie, how much does she weigh, is she a pur breed, does she have her papers?" The womans responce back to me was, "Man you ask a lot of questions." yet she failed to answer any of mine, sooo I thought to myself time to get the claws out... so I said back to her. "I know very little about breeding dogs. and I simply refuse to breed nicky just because the dogs are "Cute" there are millions apon millions of dogs that end up in shelters or worse just because someone thought it would be "Cute" to have there dog breed. Nicky means the very world to me, my dogs ARE my children since I cant have any of my own, so therefore when it comes to them and their health I WILL ask as many questions as I see fit, no more or no less. If you don't like that then that is your problem not mine. Furthermore with your lack of breeding knowledge I belive that you too should NOT breed, because she could die in the process of giving you "Cuteness" I would hate to see the welfair of your dog put in jepordy just becuase you think someone elses dog and yours MIGHT make a "Cute" puppy." I HAD to let her have it, sometimes I just can't let stupid go... I HAVE to think of the welfair of the animal. Later she wrote me an email telling me that her puppy HAD to have an emergency historectomy because some male dog got to her when she was in heat, and he was twice her size. I was like OMG I hope he didn't hurt her. But she never got back to me with any info... People like her should NOT be aloud to have animals. UGHNESS
